Description
To celebrate the release of the master cassette version of Cleveland, a famous sound source of the Ziggy era audience, we have prepared a valuable vintage sound source from the Ziggy era. Since it was a period when popularity exploded between the early Ziggy Stardust show and the rare performance “DEFINITIVE RAINBOW 1972” and the start of the US tour, there were naturally many gigs. However, the number of existing sound sources is extremely small. One of the few records from that period is the Bristol performance on August 27th. Since it was such a period, it is undoubtedly a blessing that the sound source remains, but to be honest, the sound quality is not so good. The performance is captured quite loudly, but the level of breathing noise beyond hiss noise is considerable. It is a so-called rough audience recording, and as expected, there is no record of any items being released. Some enthusiasts have undertaken to brush up this valuable but problematic sound source, and the version called “THAT BOY” which suppresses the breathing noise is the basis for this one. Although it was good that the harsh noise disappeared, the sound became muffled as a drawback. After all, it is a sound source for enthusiasts, and no matter how valuable the time, the poor sound quality is unavoidable. It has gotten a little better…is that this version? Nevertheless, there is a big reason why this sound source was made into a CD. Not only is it a valuable record after Rainbow, but on this day only, Bowie & Spiders covered the Beatles’ famous song “This Boy”! In the first place, this day was a time unique to early Ziggy when the stage configuration was not yet solidified, and after “Ziggy Stardust” was played in the middle of the live performance, the finale was a valuable development in which Chuck Berry’s “Round And Round” was performed on the oldest stage. In the latter half of the concert, “This Boy” was surprisingly faithful to the original, and even Trevor Boulder, who usually plays a distorted bass, played the phrases that Paul played in the original song. Rather, the atmosphere of the concert seemed to change completely with just this song, and although Bowie may have only tried his favorite song, it certainly gave off a sense of incongruity. Because it was such a valuable cover performance, this song alone was recorded as a bonus in the past, but this is the first time that the entire concert has been made into an item. It is certainly an audience recording with harsh sound quality, but its valuable content is worth a listen for any enthusiast. After all, it is “This Boy” sung by Ziggy Stardust!
