Description
The Oceania leg of “A REALITY TOUR” attracted the attention of collectors with a series of masterpieces such as the masterpiece “SYDNEY 2004 2ND NIGHT” and the big set “AUSTRALIAN TOUR 2004”. A superb 4-disc set that is worthy of decorating the end is now available. This work contains two consecutive performances at the same venue. It is a superb audience recording of “Melbourne performance on February 26th and 27th, 2004”. This work is also a set, but “AUSTRALIAN TOUR 2004” was also a masterpiece with a set of three performances. First of all, let’s check the position of the trilogy from the schedule at that time. Oceania Leg ・February 14th: Wellington performance ・February 17th “AUSTRALIAN TOUR 2004 (Brisbane)” ・February 20th “AUSTRALIAN TOUR 2004 (Sydney)” ・February 21st: “SYDNEY 2004 2ND NIGHT” ・February 23rd “AUSTRALIAN TOUR 2004” ・February 26th: Melbourne performance ←★DISC 1-2 of this work★ ・February 27th: Melbourne performance ←★DISC 3-4 of this work★ ・March 1st: Perth performance Asia Leg ・March 4th: Singapore performance ・March 8th-11th: Japan (3 performances) ・March 14th: Hong Kong performance This is Bowie’s last Oceania/Asia leg. The two albums, “SYDNEY 2004 2ND NIGHT” and “AUSTRALIAN TOUR 2004”, were four solid performances, but the two Melbourne performances of this work were held immediately after that. It is exactly a consecutive sequel album. And the sound is also worthy of being called a sequel. As expected, it is one step away from the pinnacle work “SYDNEY 2004 2ND NIGHT”. Surprisingly, the two performances of this work are superb recordings that are not inferior to that press masterpiece. The refreshing and transparent air is crystal clear, and the core that penetrates the center is completely intimate with no sense of distance. The ensemble is also beautifully separated, and each sound is clearly cut to the contour, and Bowie’s singing voice is not only one word of the lyrics, but also the nuances of each syllable and breathing are poured directly into the ears. What’s even more shocking is that the sound is pierced throughout the two performances. As with the previous two works, the collection of masterpieces was provided by researchers, but the venue is probably a major factor. After all, the venue, Rod Laver Arena, is famous for being the center court of the Australian Open. The sound is released into the ceiling, which is wide open to the sky, and there is no muffled sound or wraparound. You can feel the sound coming from the PA directly. Such super direct sound depicts two performances with the most variety of the trilogy. If you are reading this article, you have probably experienced “SYDNEY 2004 2ND NIGHT”, so let’s compare and organize them here. Fixed songs for both shows: ・70s: The Man Who Sold the World/Life on Mars?/Five Years/Ziggy Stardust/Hang On to Yourself/All the Young Dudes/Rebel Rebel/”Heroes” ・80s/90s: Ashes to Ashes/Under Pressure/China Girl/I’m Afraid of Americans ・2000s: Cactus/Sunday/Heathen (The Rays) (★)/Looking for Water/New Killer Star/Try Some Buy Some (★)/Pablo Picasso (★) Songs only for the first day (DISC 1-2): ・60s/70s: White Light/White Heat/Quicksand/Suffragette City (★)/Starman (★)/Panic in Detroit (★)/Fame ・90s/2000s: Hallo Spaceboy/Slip Away (★)/Days/The Loneliest Guy/Reality (★) Songs only on the second day (DISC 3-4) ・70s/80s: Changes (★)/Always Crashing in the Same Car (★)/Be my Wife (★)/Breaking Glass (★)/Sound and Vision (★)/Fashion (★)/Let’s Dance (★) ・2000s: I’ve Been Waiting for You (★)/Never Get Old (★) *Note: Songs marked with “★” cannot be heard on “SYDNEY 2004 2ND NIGHT”. …And so on. Both the first day (DISC 1-2) and the second day (DISC 3-4) are great deals in a different sense. First of all, on the first day (DISC 1-2), the number of songs is huge. In the previous two works, there were about 23-26 songs per park, but on this day there were a massive 30 songs. It covers all the songs that were performed in “SYDNEY 2004 2ND NIGHT”, and adds seven more songs. And the second day (DISC 3-4) has 28 songs, and a considerable number of them have been replaced. As you can see above, nine repertoires that were not performed on the first day were featured, but all of these were not heard in “SYDNEY 2004 2ND NIGHT”. In other words, 39 songs and 58 takes were performed in just two performances of this work, and 17 of them do not overlap with “SYDNEY 2004 2ND NIGHT”. In any case, the sound and show content are surprising. The only thing that is inferior to “SYDNEY 2004 2ND NIGHT” is that some songs pick up the handclaps more loudly. That can be a good point depending on your preference, and depending on the song, the superiority or inferiority can be reversed. It is a threatening four-disc set that allows you to enjoy a huge number of masterpieces with such a press-class sound. In reality, this work should have been preserved forever… the more I listen to this masterpiece, the deeper the doubts become. The best audience recording set of the “February 26th + 27th, 2004 Melbourne performance”. The clear and transparent atmosphere is crystal clear, and the core that penetrates the center is completely intimate with no sense of distance. The ensemble is also beautifully separated, each sound is clearly cut to the contour, and Bowie’s singing voice is poured directly into the ears, not only every word of the lyrics but also the nuances of each syllable and breathing. Although the quality is not inferior to “SYDNEY 2004 2ND NIGHT”, there are also a lot of masterpieces that you can’t hear there. This is a masterpiece that allows you to experience all 39 songs and 58 takes of two consecutive performances in full. Astonishingly high sound quality!!! This is the best sound quality board that I really want to re-press. Everything, including the content, is superb! I recommend this.
