Description
The “1983 Kinney recording” that shook the world with the world premiere of “YOKOHAMA STADIUM 1983 (Wardour-253)” the other day. A sequel is coming. This is also a super-excellent live album that is being released worldwide for the first time! This second miracle is recorded in the “October 29, 1983: Nagoya International Exhibition Hall” performance. Of course, it is a part of the “SERIOUS MOONLIGHT JAPAN TOUR” that was at the height of its popularity with the movies “Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence” and “LET’S DANCE”. We have reported on many live albums, including the recent “YOKOHAMA STADIUM 1983”. This week in particular is the simultaneous release of “DEFINITIVE BUDOKAN 1983 FINAL NIGHT”, so let’s organize the representative works by schedule.・October 20th: Nippon Budokan・October 21st: Nippon Budokan “MOONLIGHT SHADOW”・October 22nd: Nippon Budokan “THIRD NIGHT AT BUDOKAN”・October 24th: Nippon Budokan “DEFINITIVE BUDOKAN 1983 FINAL NIGHT”★・October 25th: Yokohama Stadium “YOKOHAMA STADIUM 1983″★・October 26th: Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium・October 27th: Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium・October 29th: Nagoya International Exhibition Hall 【This work】★・October 30th: Osaka Expo Memorial Stadium “OSAKA 1983 FINAL NIGHT”・October 31st: Kyoto Prefectural Gymnasium “KYOTO 1983″★※Note: Only representative works are included on each day. ★ indicates Kinney recording. The above are the 10 performances, the largest scale in the history of Bowie’s visit to Japan. The Nagoya performance of this work is the 8th performance, which is approaching the end. Since it was at the height of popularity, various recordings have been excavated since then, but the Nagoya performance was not blessed. Although the existence of the recording itself was known for a long time, the ones that were traded were only of a level that could not be listened to. Although it has been said that “It was a passionate performance …”, for many years, “it seems” was not removed. About a year ago, the gift board “NAGOYA 1983” excavated from our shop became a topic of conversation as “For the first time, a good recording has come out!” Of course, this work is in a completely different dimension! It is not comparable at all. After all, it is an original recording by the super-prestigious Kinney, which can be said to be synonymous with boot history. As mentioned above, many Kinney recordings have been pressed from this tour, and all of them are top-notch. This work is no exception, and its vividness, directness, crystal clear atmosphere … everything is phenomenal. Not only Bowie’s breathing-level singing voice, but also his thick and meaty performance is captured super delicately, and the balance of the loud voice of “Kya!” swirling in the distance is also wonderful. It is a masterpiece of “Kinney Magic” at full throttle. The show depicted with that sound is “sound evidence” that proves the long-standing urban legend of “passionate performance”. In this tour, the Osaka performance, which was interrupted by too much enthusiasm, is also famous (you can enjoy the documentary in “OSAKA 1983 FINAL NIGHT”), but the Nagoya performance of this work is the day before. While the premonition of the enthusiasm swirls, the heat of the show that stops just before the show runs through the whole story. Of course, Bowie’s spirit fueled by that enthusiasm is not half-hearted, and he pulls with a powerful singing voice. Also, the “premonition” is also a highlight. Unlike the gift album “NAGOYA 1983,” it does not block the singing/playing, but still, a strange mood can be felt here and there. Not only the sea of yellow squeals mentioned above, but also the real voices (small but certain) such as “I’m sorry,” “I’m getting off now!” and “The person in front won’t sit down…” can be heard. The flames of anger do not spread like at the Osaka Expo Memorial Stadium, but there was definitely a spark in Nagoya. Passionate performances fuel the enthusiasm, and the enthusiasm draws out the enthusiasm. The miracle of the Nagoya performance, where the enthusiasm was raised to the point of deviating from the realm of “healthy.” This is a Kinney recording that captures the whole story in super clear form. I never thought that such a great album and recording existed. I never thought that it had never been released until now. This is a miraculous excavation following “YOKOHAMA STADIUM 1983.” It is a masterpiece both as a great music album and as a document of “1983.” Please enjoy this beautiful and rich “scent of 1983” to your heart’s content.
