Description
The signal for D’Angelo’s revival, a live performance entitled Brothers In Arms, a phantasmagoric classic cover contest with his ally Questlove, was recorded in a high-quality audience recording. It has also been remastered and is very easy to listen to. A series of covers of Gang Starr, Sly, and Bobby Womack that show the depth of their musicality, Fantastic by Slum Villagen, who is cooler than J Dilla, and Ohio Players, a cover of an old song from the Westbound era, sounds like a new song by D’Angelo. And Prince’s Pop Life is a 12-inch version. They also played She’s Always In My Hair, an early live version of Really Love with Questlove’s MC saying it was the first single, a beautiful piano of Tell Me If You Still Care by SOS Band with the audience singing along, and an encore of a clever medley of Lady and Parliament’s Do That Stuff. This is a live performance full of their charm, where D’Angelo and Questlove’s music lovers explode. “Brothers In Arms” July 3, 2013 Philadelphia, PA Theater of Living Arts Disc 1 01.
