Description
THE CURE was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and came to Japan for the first time in six years. Introducing their latest and best professional shots. This work includes “August 11, 2019 Helsinki performance”. This is a multi-camera professional shot taken when he appeared at Finland’s famous music festival “FLOW FESTIVAL” which has been going on for 15 years. Festivals are held in Europe every summer, but “FLOW FESTIVAL” is unique. It is a comprehensive art festival that not only features band performances, but also design and architecture exhibitions, film screenings, talks, and food events. A large number of bands/artists participated in the three-day event from August 9th to 11th, and THE CURE performed as the grand finale on the final day. The scene will be professionally filmed and distributed. This work is a DVD version of the best master. Also, speaking of THE CURE, this year’s FUJI ROCK is still fresh in my memory. In order to know their current situation, let’s check the show position from the tour overview here. ・March 16th + 21st: South Africa (2 performances) ・March 29th: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Ceremony ・May 24th-30th: Australia (5 performances) ・June 8th-July 25th: Europe # 1 (17 performances) ・July 28: FUJI ROCK appearance ・August 3-23: Europe #2 (6 performances)←★Coco★ ・August 31: PASADENA DAYDREAM appearance ・October 5 + 12 : Appearing at AUSTIN CITY LIMITS [“40 LIVE: CURAETION-25 + ANNIVERSARY” released on October 18th] This is the 2019 schedule announced so far. He performed at FUJI ROCK at the end of last month, but returned to Europe immediately after that. The Helsinki performance of this work was the fourth concert of “Europe #2”. It also became a hot topic for FUJI ROCK that Simon Gallup was unable to come to Japan due to “serious personal circumstances (according to one theory, his wife was in critical condition…)” and that his son Eden played bass in his place. Ta. However, that pinch hitter is only available in Japan. Simon has now returned to Europe. Now, this work was shot at such a show. This is now an iron wall. Completely official multi-camera professional shot. I think it’s natural that it’s official grade because it’s the best master of the latest distribution, but it’s still beautiful. Picture quality, sound quality, mix, camera work…I can’t complain about anything. Even more delicious is the atmosphere unique to European summer festivals. In summer in Europe, where the latitude is high, the daytime is long and open, but in Northern Europe it is especially extreme. The sun finally begins to set around 9 pm, and from there it quickly becomes night. Therefore, even at THE CURE, which is a big hit, the venue is still bright at the time of the performance, but it becomes midnight within the time of about 2 hours and 15 minutes. At first, even without lights, you can clearly see the equipment, giving it the open feel of an outdoor venue, but as the show progresses, the darkness deepens, and the fantastic light show and visual beauty of the giant screen take over. That’s why the expression changes with each song, and it’s as vivid as a different show. The show, which is depicted with visual beauty that even uses natural light, vividly revives the performance in Japan the other day, but is similar and different. As mentioned earlier, Eden Gallup was the bassist for the Japanese performance, but Simon returned in this work. It seemed like Eden was playing the bass perfectly, just like her father, but his groove was still very authentic. And the sets are also different. Although they share a common structure that looks at a wide range of careers, centering on “THE HEAD ON THE DOOR” and “DISINTEGRATION,” there are plenty of famous songs that could not be heard in Japan. Particularly popular is the repertoire from the early 1980s, in addition to “Primary,” they also performed “A Strange Day” and “One Hundred Years” from “PORNOGRAPHY.” Furthermore, “Just One Kiss” was the B-side of the single “Let’s Go to Bed.” It was performed for the first time in 2012, but this time it will be revived for the first time in seven years. Also, the relatively recent “39” is a number that has never been performed in Japan, and it’s interesting that they sing a birthday song before “Lullaby” (I thought it was someone’s birthday, but apparently there was someone in the wings of the stage. It’s like a crew) scene. In any case, this is the latest multi-camera professional shot. That’s all. 2019 was an unforgettable year for THE CURE, as they were inducted into the Hall of Fame on the 40th anniversary of their debut.
