Description
The ultimate improvised music trio, formed by Zakir Hussain, who is said to have the hands of God, and Chris Potter, one of the best contemporary saxophonists, was formed as a project to explore the influence of jazz on “Indian classical music”. This live performance is the first to be released with super high quality sound! ! The popular Snarky Puppy and Chris Potter’s collaboration is also a bonus! ! The earliest live performance by this trio was held at the Jazz Festival in San Sebastian, Spain on July 27, 2018, before the release of the first album “Good Hope” by the CrossCurrents Trio in 2019. It was recorded on a super high quality sound board with careful mastering by the label, and a valuable live performance with Chris Potter’s participation in the stage of Snarky Puppy, the most popular group in the current music scene across genres, was added as a bonus track. This powerful title, which can be said to be the essence of improvisation, has arrived! ! The mandala of sound that this trio plays is a mysticism that only the most cutting-edge of improvisational music can paint. Zakir, who has the hands of a god, is overwhelmed by the bottomless possibilities of the tabla, with his rich low tones wrapping the bass and highlighting the tone, and his high tones supporting the saxophone like interjections, singing and swinging as if carrying the melody together. Holland, a master who has continued to evolve not only in technique but also in his own musicality through his encounters with music from all over the world, including jazz, India, Spain, and more in recent years. Chris Potter, who is at the top of the current saxophone players, has an overwhelming technique and rare sensibility that absorbs all the great saxophone players of the past and leads them to even greater heights. The three of them exquisitely intertwine with a special sense of tension and release to create a mysterious triangle, and the bonus track, Snarky Puppy and Chris’ collaboration, is incredibly groovy! Snarky Puppy is a unique band formed in Texas in 2004 by Grammy-winning bassist/guitarist/composer/arranger Michael League, with around 30 members who participate in the productions on a fluid basis. Currently, they are known as the best-selling jazz artist, and have won three Grammy Awards. The greatest appeal of Snarky, who places emphasis on powerful grooves and improvisation, is of course in their live performances, with a focus on the “quest for rhythm” common to all great artists. This single song is enough to prove that, but it’s a rare killer track!!
