Clash/Switzerland 1984

The second Clash, a five-member group, recorded their February 1984 Swiss performance from the Low Gene Master in a good stereo audience recording! Following Topper, the Clash lost Mick Jones and became Joe and Paul, and started a new five-member group with Pete Howard, who also played drums at the 1983 US Festival, and two guitarists, Vince White and Nick Shepherd. The second Clash’s 1984 “Out of Control Tour” was recorded on February 25th at the Exhibition and Trade Center in Bern, Switzerland, in a good stereo audience recording. Recorded from the Low Gene Master, the sound quality is rough but clear with good grain, the vocals are large, and each part is well-balanced in a wide range stereo, and the pitch, which was off by about one tone due to the master, has been carefully corrected. At the time, only 14 songs from this day were recorded on the bootleg record “We Don’t Miss You Mick Jones” from a master with deteriorated sound quality, but this work uses a different low-gene master to record all 25 songs and significantly improve the sound quality. Only the intro and ending parts of “Sex Mad War” and “Police And Thieves” are missing due to tape changes, but the rest are recorded completely. Due to the absence of Topper & Mick, the infamous last album “CUT THE CRAP” released the following year, and Joe himself not wanting to talk about the Clash during this period, even enthusiastic fans tend to avoid this period of the Clash, but if you listen to the powerful performance heard on this day’s live performance, especially the unreleased number “Ammunition” which was a new song at the time and was not included in “CUT THE CRAP”, you can enjoy a wonderful performance that allows you to feel Joe’s enthusiasm for the Clash until the end.
