The concert features “Native Sense,” “Love Castle,” “Duend,” “No Mystery,” and “Bud Powell” from the duo’s most recent work at the time, “Native Sense,” released in 1997. Throughout the album, the improvisations are incorporated into the group as if they were reviving the heat of jam sessions in the heyday of modern jazz, but the perfectly synchronized ensemble allows you to hear the essence of duo performance! Chick’s piano playing is as gorgeous as ever, and Burton’s amazing technique with four (or more) mallets.
