Description
This August 19th stadium concert in their hometown of Chicago, the band’s home base, was recorded on soundboard from the FM on-air master recordings from the time, taken from a broadcast recording that includes some cuts. While this recording is not complete, it’s worth noting that the band’s final Japan performance with the original lineup featuring Terry Kath was held in April of that year, and that their tour, which began in the fall, was already promoting their next album. The set is completely different from their Japan performance, featuring a selection of more mainstream tracks, and the band even features an early live performance of “Air” from “CHICAGO VII.” Other highlights include a rare setlist unique to this period, and a must-listen for fans, offering performances and arrangements that are different from those seen at their official Carnegie Hall and Live in Japan shows.
