Description
THE CARS made a shocking debut with “Deranged Drive”. Introducing a soundboard album where you can enjoy the initial stage with the best sound. This work includes “July 1978 Schaumburg Performance”. This is the leaked stereo sound board recording. Their debut work, “Derangement Drive,” peaked at number 18 in the United States and was a monster hit, eventually selling over 6 million copies. This work is one act of the US tour that was in the middle of such a shock. First, let’s check the show’s position from the tour schedule at the time. ・January 25th + 26th: Boston (2 performances)《Single “Just What I Needed” released on May 29th》《“THE CARS” released on June 6th》・June 29th – October 28th: North America #1 (34 performances) ←★Coco★・November 13: Boston performance・November 14-29: Europe (3 performances)・December 1-28: North America #2 (3 performances) [Danny・A hidden treasure unearthed from Seraphine’s collection shelf] This is THE CARS from 1978. There are many ambiguous points in the data from that time, so the number of performances is not exact, but I think you can understand the general flow. They released “Derangement Drive” in June and immediately toured the United States. Although we held a few showcase gigs in Europe, we were able to perform almost exclusively in North America. The Schaumburg performance of this work is the “#1” show in North America immediately after its debut. Although the exact date is not known, it is said to be “probably in July,” so it seems that the concert will take place approximately one month after their debut. This work, which records such a show, is a superb stereo soundboard recording that will wake you up. In fact, this master is unusual in that the outflow route is clear. Originally, an engineer who was asked to mix down for FM broadcasting created a separate mix for himself. The person who inherited it was Danny Seraphine, who was the drummer for CHICAGO at the time, and it was released from his collection to collectors around the world. Also, this different mix is different. The aforementioned engineer created a 2ch master for his broadcast station, but he created a quadraphonic (4ch) for himself. This work was converted directly to 2ch stereo when releasing this 4ch master. [Excellent sound board that combines vividness and symmetry] The sound of this work is a sound that proves the origin of such sound sources. Although the performance balance is beautifully mixed, it is extremely raw and almost like a direct connection to the desk. Normally, broadcast mixes mix echoes and loud cheers with the intention of “reproducing the atmosphere of a concert,” but this work is for the engineer’s personal use, so the cheers are far away, and the live performance is exposed to the core and is a large feature. has been done. Moreover, it was only mixed in 4ch, and the three-dimensional effect is amazing. It’s not an outrageous panning, but the guitar, bass, and drums are separated so that you can clearly see the arrangement of the members, and even though the keyboard wraps around the whole thing, they never mix, making it very three-dimensional. While the sound quality and performance balance are completely official, it is an extremely delicious and exquisite sound board with only the freshness at the level of direct connection to the table. This world of sound depicts the young THE CARS, who were about to take the world by storm. Let’s organize the contents of the set here. ●THE CARS (7 songs)・Good Times Roll, Bye Bye Love, My Best Friend’s Girl, Moving In Stereo, Don’t Cha Stop, You’re All I’ve Got Tonight, Just What I Needed ●Others (4 songs) )・Night Spots (CANDY-O), When You Gonna Lay Me Down, Take What You Want, Hotel Queenie… and so on. Naturally, Natsuno played all the songs on “Kirou no Drive” except “I’m in Touch with Your World” and “All Mixed Up.” On top of that, “Night Spots”, which would be included in “Dedicated to Candy-O”, was already performed, and “Take What You Want” and “Hotel Queenie”, which were demoed at the time of the debut, were also performed, as well as Benjamin Orr’s The extremely rare number “When You Gonna Lay Me Down” sung by is also included. It is truly a “confusional drive of the live performance version”, and it is a live album in which the valuable repertoire unique to the band immediately after its debut is brought out with tremendous force. THE CARS in 1978 became the darling of the era upon their debut. This is a live album where you can enjoy that moment with a stereo soundboard that directly touches your brain. The unearthing of Ric Ocasek’s legacy has begun due to his sudden death, but this is one of the best among them. B’Ginnings, Schaumburg, IL, USA July 1978 STEREO SBD (47:37) 1.
