Description
Three titles were released at once from Bruce Springsteen’s glorious “BORN IN THE USA” tour, two of which were upper version sound sources from his first performance in Japan in 1985. Apart from that, this CD is a project to release even rarer audience recording masters. What is recorded there is Yoyogi Olympic Pool on April 10th, the first day of the first performance in Japan. Speaking of the first day, a masterpiece called “LIGHTS OUT FIRST NIGHT” was released, but the unique audience master provided this time boasts the best sound quality that even surpasses it. This new sound source had a big drawback that three songs were not recorded after “My Hometown” in the first part of the stage. Still, it would be a shame to let the quality be shelved… Therefore, in this release, the three missing songs were supplemented from “LIGHTS OUT~”. With this editing, you will be overwhelmed by the amazing sound quality that even exceeds the previously released version, which seemed to have such high sound quality (that is why it is really regrettable that three songs were cut). In particular, the power of the on-sound image is overwhelming. What’s more, not only is the sound image on, but the balance of the performance is truly wonderful. Among them, the bass line played by E Street Band’s Gary Talent was captured with exquisite balance, and it overwhelmed “LIGHTS OUT ~” in that respect as well. It’s also interesting because the content of the performance and the atmosphere of the venue are completely different from the performances released on this press CD. As is well known, although this was Bruce’s first stage in Japan, he was basically challenging himself with the structure of his previous tours. Because of this, songs like “Pink Cadillac,” which has a long narration at the beginning, end up turning the venue into a scene, even if a little Japanese is mixed in. That would be fine, but ending the main part of the live performance with “Racing In The Street,” which includes two long lines, clearly confused the Japanese people of the Showa era. All I can say is that it was wise to revive “Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)” from the performance on the 13th. When it comes to the encore, it’s funny how the excitement is so different, and John Fogerty’s song “Rockin’ All Over The World” after CCR disbanded would get a big chorus overseas, but it’s embarrassing in English. However, in Japan, where there is a lot of excitement and people are not familiar with cover songs, the chorus ends up fading out (bitter smile). The sound image is close enough that Bruce can’t help but smile at this, so you can clearly hear it. However, when the finale “Twist And Shout” came, the power unique to the Beatles powerhouse exploded and became a tremendous excitement. It is filled with the fun that can only be found on the first day. This release also includes the performance on April 16th, which was the conclusion of the Tokyo schedule. This is also the first appearance provided by the same taper as the first day. Originally, a sound source of the quality like other performances was not discovered on this day, and as a result, it was never even released. As this situation continued, “TOKYO 1985 4TH & FINAL NIGHT” was a release that was full of mania, but this time’s sound source easily exceeds the audience recording used there. Just like the sound source on the first day, the closeness of the sound image is amazing. Unfortunately, there were more defects than the first day’s sound source. First of all, after hitting the tape change at the ending of “Prove It All Night”, he failed to record “Glory Days”. It would be great if that was all, but it is a shame that the encore is not recorded at all. If it was a complete recording with this sound quality… it would be a shame. However, fortunately, the scene where Japan’s only “Because The Night”, which was the highlight of the day, was performed was captured with excellent sound quality, and even this alone should be able to impress enthusiasts. Moreover, since the performance was on the last day of the Tokyo schedule, the voltage was high, and the excitement at the end of “Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)” was tremendous. More than that, the power of the blues songs was amazing, and it was interesting to compare it to the first show in Tokyo, which was literally a fumbling show. It is a shame that both sound sources have problems with the recording condition, but the superb sound quality is sure to satisfy enthusiasts! Uses the first appearance master tape. The sound quality is very good, but the cut is disappointing!
