Description

The label has unearthed a rare, first-time sound source that has never been released on the Internet or among collectors! This is a series of astonishingly high-quality stereo soundboard sound sources recorded directly from the original 4 or 2 track open reel masters, PCM digital recording masters, and high-fidelity recording masters that no one has ever heard before. The legendary performance in Japan with the Brecker Brothers’ masterpiece “Return of the Brecker Brothers,” which pursued the true essence of the Breckers and the funkiness of jazz, is revived in astonishingly high-quality sound! The Mount Fuji Jazz Festival has been held every summer since 1986 at the foot of Mount Fuji in Yamanashi Prefecture, Lake Yamanaka, with various sessions taking place over three days, day and night, and has left many legends behind. This is the first time that this supreme item has been released, which realizes the most astonishing and ultimate high-quality stereo sound board, recorded directly from the original PCM digital recording master, which is not available to the public, and in which you can clearly hear the breathing of each member! James Genus, a rising star on the bass alongside Christian McBride, who boasts top-notch technique on both electric and acoustic instruments and was in high demand by big names like Michael Jackson and, later, Herbie and Chick, and Dennis Chambers, an incredible drummer who joined P-Funk’s Funkadelic in high school and performed in an incredible trio with John McLaughlin, and later became known as a regular member of Steely Dan’s reunion tours and Santana, combining the technique of Steve Gadd with the wildness and power of Tony Williams. These two are simply amazing! The rhythm section of Genus and Chambers, who are driven by raw emotions that they can’t help but want to play and hit, rush forward like heavy tanks, and are the epitome of aggressive. It’s no exaggeration to say that they boast hundreds of times more power than the studio version, and the intense performance of Michael’s tenor, Randy’s pet, and Finnerty’s guitar, who are carrying the saxophone world after Coltrane’s death, is so intense that it’s heavenly! The best songs from the studio version, such as “Spherical,” “Above & Below,” and “Song for Bury,” are far superior in this live performance, and you can listen to the Breckers’ signature song, “Some Skunk Funk,” with a spectacular performance that surpasses that of this lineup! This is a dream-like item that perfectly captures The Brecker Brothers’ strongest and most solid performance on an amazing, super high-quality stereo sound board that is in a completely different dimension, recorded directly from the miraculously unearthed PCM digital recording master that has never been released to the public!
