Description

The recording of “The Roxy” is said to be a hidden treasure even in the absolute master Millard Collection. Among them, the final work of BRAND X, which is the secret of secrets, is finally released. This work was recorded on “September 22, 1979 (Late Show)”. It is a superb audience recording that conveys the scene. For some reason, GENESIS officials seem to like the club “The Roxy”, and not only the original GENESIS but also Peter Gabriel, Steve Hackett, and other family members repeatedly performed shows. And Millard was a frequent visitor to such a scene. He continued to record the family in total, but with the incredible sound and content, he has been treated specially in the Millard Collection. In addition to the atmosphere that is different from the hall venue, the closed room sound unique to the club and the presence of the band in front of you… A group of masterpieces that combine the quality that you would not think of as an audience recording and the reality that can only be a customer record were born one after another. Even in that special collection, BRAND X is rare. To begin with, there are few live performances, and it is even rarer when Phil Collins is also present. We have introduced the activity history of 1979 so far, but let’s list it again here. {April: PRODUCT session} ・September 12-16: UK (3 performances) {September 14: “PRODUCT” released} ・September 20-30: North America (11 performances) ←★here★ ・October 9: OGWT performance ・October 28: Uniondale performance {November-December: “DUKE” production} This is Phil Collins in 1979. BRAND X’s activities were small-scale, but the main one was the six consecutive performances at the beginning of “North America” at “The Roxy”. Today, you can listen to the performances on the Mirrored Collection and the official live album “LIVE AT THE ROXY L.A.” Let’s summarize the situation briefly. Details of the 6 performances of THE ROXY ・ September 21 (Early) ・ September 21 (Late) ・ September 22 (Early) ・ September 22 (Late) ←★This work★ ・ September 23 (Early) ・ September 23 (Late) ←※Official … and so on. Although it was 6 performances, it was not 6 days, but a dense schedule of “3 days x 2 performances = 6 performances”. The official “LIVE AT THE ROXY L.A.” was the final stage, but the mirrored recording was the first 2 days (4 performances). This work is the last one. That last one is the secret of the secret. In fact, Millard failed to record on this day. Kobo also made a mistake in writing, or rather, he failed to record the entire first half of the show. Whether it was a setting mistake or some other misunderstanding, the cause is unknown, but nothing was recorded on the A side of the cassette, and only the two songs “…And So To F…” and “Access To Data” after the details were left on the B side. It’s a rudimentary mistake that is not typical of a master, but the remaining B-side is a masterful one…no, I was surprised because it was one of the most amazing recordings in the Mirrored Collection. The thickness and closeness are completely soundboard class, and the loud applause is nothing more than a distant ripple compared to the powerful performance sound. From here on, it’s just my imagination, but I think it was probably recorded from a special seat right in front of the stage. As I’ve mentioned several times before, “The Roxy” has a unique rule, and spectators who watch both performances on the same day are given the right to choose their favorite seat at the late show. Therefore, even in the “The Roxy” collection, the late show recording is closer. Although it is difficult to say for sure because “ROXY 1979 2ND NIGHT (EARLY SHOW)” on the same day is also superb, when played side by side, this work has a clearer and more bare soundboard feel without echoes. I regret the recording mistake on side A again and again, but even though it’s only two songs, it’s about 32 minutes long. It’s almost as long as the album “IS THERE ANYTHING ABOUT?”. Moreover, the performance is overflowing with fierce stage tension, and the quality is the best in the Millard Collection, a miracle sound. For beginners, we recommend the previous three works, but this work is also a treasure that you cannot miss. The latest work in the “The Roxy” series, which is highly cult-popular among Millard works. A super-class audience recording of “September 22, 1979 (late show)”. A masterpiece created from the original cassette of absolute master Mike Millard, the two songs at the end of the show (about 32 minutes) are super high-quality sound that is outstanding even in the Millard Collection. This is a treasure album that will imprint on your soul the live performance of BRAND X with Phil Collins, overflowing with fierce stage tension. The Roxy, West Hollywood, CA, USA 22nd September 1979 (Late Show) ULTIMATE SOUND★Super High Sound Quality (31:46) 1. MC 2. …And So To F… 3. Access To Data John Goodsall – guitar Percy Jones – bass J.
