Description
In recent years, the “Mike Millard Tape” has been digitized from direct master or low generation tapes. This tape was recorded by Mike Millard, a taper well known to fans for his outstanding skills in audience recording. The same label has also released several sound sources using this newly digitized Mike Millard tape as the master, but if you look closely, you will notice that there are two types: “Brushed Mike Millard Tape” and “Legendary Mike Millard Tape”. Not all Mike Millard tapes have perfect sound quality, and some have room for improvement with considerable work. The “Brushed” series is one that has been significantly improved through extensive work. The “Legendary” series is one that is close to perfect from the beginning, has little room for improvement in sound quality, and has been kept to a minimum with light editing between songs, etc. This time, we will introduce the British technical jazz rock band Brand X from the “Legendary” series. First of all, in terms of sound quality, the high sound quality is truly worthy of the “Legendary” series. The problem is that the band’s name is a little less well known, but this is an important band that all jazz rock and British prog fans should listen to. The impressive rhythm section, consisting of Percy Jones, a master of the electric bass, who is no exaggeration to say is the Jaco Pastorius of Europe, and Phil Collins, who returned after being extremely busy with Genesis, runs in all directions, creating a great circus of twin keyboards and guitars. Phil Collins is well known for his ability as a pop vocalist in the 90s, but he is also a top-class drummer, and this recording proves that fact. While Genesis, who were active at the same time, expressed their own worldview with creative songs, this Brand X is a solid jazz rock that attacks with performance ability. As mentioned above, the sound quality is also good, so it is recommended for those who are experiencing Brand X for the first time. It goes without saying that it is a must-listen for jazz rock and prog fans.
