Description
A collection of solo piano live recordings by Brad Mehldau, a young number one pianist who is known for his collaborations with Pat Metheny and is hailed as the “troubadour of the piano.” The first half was a live performance at the Montreal Jazz Festival held in Canada on July 2, 2000, and the second half was a live performance in Menton, France on August 5, 2004, both of which were used as FM broadcast sound sources. Recorded in official quality with digital remastering. From the familiar Nick Drake’s “Riveman” and “Things Behind The Sun” to covers of the Beatles and Radiohead, the greatest appeal of Mehldau’s piano solos is the wide variety of songs that are not particular about jazz, and are worth listening to in their entirety. Full marks. In particular, the wonderful play on the excellent song “(Singalong) Junk” recorded in Paul McCartney’s first solo is an excellent take. Disc 1 : 76:01 /01. Paris 02.
