Description
1988 was a year of unprecedented economic boom and HR/HM boom. Everyone believed in “endless spring” and had no doubts in 1988. The best professional shots of the huge event that took place on that last night have been decided to be released. The event was “HEAT BEAT LIVE ’89 IN BIG EGG”. It was a New Year’s Eve countdown concert held at the Tokyo Dome, which had just opened that year… No, at the “Big Egg”. This concert was a festival featuring BON JOVI, who was at the height of his power at the time, as the main act, and LA metal master RATT, up-and-coming KINGDOM COME, and BRITNY FOX. The event was broadcast on television, and HR/HM was introduced to the living room. This broadcast has produced many existing releases, but this work is the best version ever based on the best master unearthed in recent years. The quality is amazingly amazing. It also includes a TV commercial for S Electric, which used BON JOVI as its image character, so I think it’s probably an air check, but the quality is so clear and there is no line noise or deterioration that it makes you wonder, “Is this an official DVD? Is this a mint laser disc?” In fact, there is a very slight tracking noise-like audio noise, so it can be distinguished as a video master, but it is of such high quality that it is hard to believe that it is an 80’s video that has been around for 28 years. The quality is such that it depicts the smell of 1989, when both the band and the audience were immersed in the “spring of our world.” All the bands that performed will appear, but the main band is BON JOVI. 12 of the 17 songs on the day will be broadcast (the ones that were cut were “Homebound Train”, “Pink Flamingos”, “Let It Rock”, “Get Ready”, and “Runaway”), and in between them, BRITNY FOX (1 song), KINGDOM COME (1 song + drum solo), and RATT (2 songs) will be sandwiched. The image of BON JOVI projected on the screen is exactly like the music video for “Bad Medicine.” They are neither youthful nor immature, and they don’t show any sexiness to their maturity. They are the “BON JOVI” who sings and plays with a straight and unhesitant expression, with the wind of their prime blowing over their whole bodies. The large crowd at Big Egg, looking back at them, is also a scene from 1988. The women who respond with yellow squeals are dressed in bodycon and sway their bodies with their long straight hair. Their thick eyebrows are distorted with emotion, and in the meantime, the male customer with Arale-chan glasses is singing as loud as he can… The scene that could only have been in that era, 1988, fills the screen. The other three groups that are broadcasted alongside BON JOVI are also delicious. It’s typical of Japan that RATT, who was a big name in LA metal at the time, only had two songs, but BRITNY FOX, which I’m grateful for just broadcasting, and KINGDOM COME, which was in its prime for a moment (I wanted to see STONE FURY’s “Break Down The Walls” more than James Kottak’s drum solo!!!) can be enjoyed in the finest quality. Following the New Year’s countdown, the bands that appeared all had a jam, “It’s All Over Now,” and the festival was a success. Lenny Wolf, who sang while looking at the cue card, and Stephen Pearcy, who wore a happi coat with “Hiitobito Live ’89” written on it. Everything is wrapped up in “that era,” and this work closes. Above all, BON JOVI in its heyday. And the Japanese who looked at it, and the bands that colored 1988 with BON JOVI. A masterpiece pro shot in which the “smell of 1989” rises from the monitor and the wind blows out of the speaker. Live at Tokyo Dome, Tokyo, Japan 31st December 1988 PRO-SHOT Disc 1(55:15) 1. CM 2.
