Description

BON JOVI repainted the world with the astronomical success of “SLIPPERY WHEN WET” and “NEW JERSEY”. This is an original recording that allows you to fully experience “HEAT BEAT LIVE ’89 in Big Egg”, which was their last visit to Japan in the 1980s and their first dome performance. This work is recorded from two performances at the Tokyo Dome. It is a four-disc set with two discs each for New Year’s Eve “December 31, 1988” and New Year’s Day “January 1, 1989”. This year, they did not come to Japan just for the countdown, but also toured with “NEW JERSEY”. This is a good opportunity to check the composition of this work from the schedule at that time. December 31, 1988: Tokyo Dome ←★DISC 1-2★ January 1, 1989: Tokyo Dome ←★DISC 3-4★ January 5-9: Osaka Castle Hall (3 shows) January 10+11: Nagoya Rainbow Hall (2 shows) A total of 7 shows. Osaka and Nagoya were a regular tour titled “SANYO HEAT BEAT LIVE ’89”, but the two shows at Tokyo Dome were “HEAT BEAT LIVE ’89 in Big Egg”. BON JOVI was the main act, and it was a festival format with LA metal giants RATT, up-and-coming KINGDOM COME, and BRITNY FOX also participating. These two New Year’s shows also had titles, with the New Year’s Eve show (DISC 1-2) called “FINAL COUNT DOWN” and the New Year’s Day show (DISC 3-4) called “BLAST OFF TOKYO”. This work is a superb audience recording set that contains the complete BON JOVI edition of the two Tokyo Dome performances. On the other hand, this work was also a phantom masterpiece. Both performances were original recordings only for this work, but when they first appeared, they were limited editions, with only 20 sets. As a legendary rare item that was not suitable for the peak live album of BON JOVI, which is popular nationwide, it quickly sold out and went out of print. Of course, this work is a faithful reproduction of the original release. It was finally released to the public for those who were unable to obtain it at the time. And the important thing is the contents. Naturally, a bad recording will only be rare garbage, but this work is different. The sound is slightly different in the two performances, but the New Year’s Eve live performance (DISC 1-2) is especially exquisite. Speaking of the Tokyo Dome, it is common to have a blurry and fuzzy sound, but this work is so clear that it wakes you up. Although the cheers are full of perspective and the huge venue spectacle is felt, the musical tones have almost no sense of distance, and the clear air jumps straight in like a laser beam. There are some slightly chirpy overpeaks in the high range, but the musical tones themselves are captured smoothly. In the opening song “Lay Your Hands On Me”, John’s microphone is off, which makes you think “What?”, but this is a mistake by the on-site PA. It recovers in less than a minute, and there is plenty of stable sound until the end. On the other hand, the New Year’s Day live (DISC 3-4) is very beautiful. Although it is not as strangely close as DISC 1-2, it is still clear enough, and the bright and clear sound that is unlike the Tokyo Dome is vivid, and there is no chirpy overpeak. More than such quality, it is a pleasure to record it completely. In particular, New Year’s Eve (DISC 1-2) was also broadcast on TV, but that was an incomplete version edited into the broadcast frame. However, this work also has plenty of MCs between songs and famous songs that were cut from the broadcast. You can also enjoy the whole of the unaired New Year’s Eve (DISC 3-4). Here, let’s summarize the contents. Wild in the Streets (6 songs + α) I’d Die For You / Wild In The Streets / You Give Love A Bad Name / Let It Rock (with Pink Flamingos) (★) / Livin’ On A Prayer / Wanted Dead Or Alive New Jersey (7 songs) Lay Your Hands On Me / Born To Be My Baby / Homebound Train (*★) / I’ll Be There For You / Blood On Blood / Ride Cowboy Ride / Bad Medicine Others (3 songs) Runaway at Dawn: Get Ready (★) 7800° Fahrenheit: Tokyo Road Cover: It’s All Over Now (*; THE VALENTINOS) *Note: * indicates songs only on New Year’s Eve (DISC 1-2). ★ indicates songs that were not aired on TV. …And so on. Three songs were cut from the TV broadcast, and “Homebound Train” in particular was a precious song that was not performed at the New Year’s Day live. At the New Year’s Eve live, you can hear the voices saying “Happy New Year!” at the end of “Bad Medicine” (actually, it was 11:35 at this time. It’s a bit of a premature greeting), and you can enjoy the festive atmosphere of “It’s All Over Now” with RATT, KINGDOM COME, and Britney Fox, who also appeared at the event. Of course, the New Year’s Day live was still a rush of masterpieces that condensed and reduced the two great masterpieces “SLIPPERY WHEN WET” and “NEW JERSEY”, and John’s singing voice, who was 26 years old at the time, was so dazzling that it was dizzying. Japan and BON JOVI have maintained a special relationship from the first visit to Japan of “SUPER ROCK ’84” to the present. In their long history, the most glorious days were probably the two days of New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day in 1989. This work is a four-disc set that allows you to experience such a moment of ecstasy with a wonderful sound. An excellent audience recording set of “December 31, 1988 + January 1, 1989: Tokyo Dome performance”. Both performances are original recordings only for this work, and are phantom masterpieces that were once released in limited quantities and were instantly sold out. Speaking of the Tokyo Dome, it is inevitable that the sound will be blurred and fuzzy, but this work is so clear that it will wake you up. There is almost no sense of distance, and it jumps straight into the clear air like a laser beam. This is a cultural heritage album that allows you to fully experience the two days of ecstasy, including “Let It Rock”, “Homebound Train”, and “Get Ready”, which were cut from the TV broadcast.
