Description

Bob Dylan, whose US tour was a huge success last fall, has started his tour again this year. This is clearly a result of his satisfaction with the results of last year. His first tour of the year is currently underway, but the fastest release this time is the Albuquerque performance on March 6th. What’s amazing is that the sound image is just too close. Just by Dylan playing the keys before the band starts playing, you can feel that it’s “close”. Let’s say that it is a model of audience recording that should be described as “like a sound board”. Anyway, the sound image is very powerful, and Dylan’s singing voice is very close. This Albuquerque performance was originally supposed to be realized in June 2020. However, it was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The excitement of the venue is tremendous because it has finally been realized. However, the sound source this time is an ultra-audience that captured the performance on rather than such excitement. The sound is so close that you can hear the fullness of the performance below Dylan, and it’s more accurate to say that he’s high-tension rather than full of energy from the opening. It’s hard to believe he’s an 80-year-old man. The set list itself is exactly the same as last fall’s tour, and it remains the fixed pattern known among fans as “The Set.” However, it’s probably because they were able to complete a tour after a long time, but the strength of the performance and Dylan’s lively performance have clearly evolved since last year. For example, at the beginning of “When I Paint My Masterpiece,” Dylan is blowing his harmonica as if to say, “This is it.” The audience in Albuquerque was also in a frenzy before such a passionate performance. However, when Dylan started singing songs like “Mother of Muses,” the venue suddenly became quiet, so quiet that you could almost hear the needle dropping. Not only are they enthusiastic about Dylan’s visit to Albuquerque for the first time in a long time, but their attitude of “listening when listening” contributes to the ease of listening to this superb recording. For this release, the song has been slightly equalized to suppress clapping, which makes the already easy-to-listen-to sound quality even more audible. The sound is so close that you can hear every single stroke of Dylan’s clumsy keyboard (laughs), but even from that you can feel his joy in loving the stage. That’s why you can hear Dylan’s passionate singing with great tension throughout the album, and the band’s performance is reliable. It must be quite fun for him to sing with his current band, and it’s surprising that he introduces each member while laughing and joking with them when introducing them. It’s also nice to hear Dylan’s cheerful behavior. This year’s tour has just begun, but this high-quality audience that is likely to represent this year is already released by UXBRIDGE at the earliest! This is a piece that allows you to enjoy this year’s Dylan with the best sound quality. Kiva Auditorium, Albuquerque, NM, USA 6th March 2022 ULTIMATE SOUND Disc 1 (50:11) 1. Intro 2.
