Description
The Isle of Wight was a standard live recording of Bob Dylan in the 1960s. Only a few songs from the album “SELF PORTRAIT” were officially released, and instead the audience recording of the day revealed the full picture of the actual stage. In addition, all of the audience recordings of Dylan’s stage at the Isle of Wight had surprisingly good sound quality, and therefore were standard recordings that were released many times since the LP era. That is now a long time ago, and everything from that day was officially released in the box set “ANOTHER SELF PORTRAIT”. Thanks to this, the Isle of Wight that enthusiasts around the world dreamed of can now be heard on a stereo soundboard, but the audience recording of the day was a disadvantage because of that. It is true that it has become only a documentary value in front of the official, but it is sad that the sound source that was once available as a matter of course is no longer in circulation. Especially veteran enthusiasts will still fondly remember that surprisingly easy-to-listen-to audience recording. The CD we have prepared is an audience recording from the Isle of Wight. It is a different sound source from the one used for TMOQ’s analogues in the past, but like the Isle of Wight audience, it is also high quality and has a close sound image. Not only that, what is recorded here is also valuable, as it is the entire original sound source. This is because it is said that the first generation reel copy copied from the master (which is thought to no longer exist) is recorded in its original state. Some songs have the beginning of the performance duplicated due to re-copying, and you can even hear fragments of the previous sound that was erased by overwriting when it was copied. That is the part credited as “Noise” on track 2, but what you can faintly hear here is John Lennon’s “Give Peace A Chance”. This also gives a glimpse of the act of overwriting the Isle of Wight onto the tape that was recording the latest hits of 1969…in other words, the act unique to music fans in 1969. Also, the main part of the live performance sounds really good. However, as with old tapes, the pitch rose during Dylan’s singing and playing corner and at the end of the live performance, so I adjusted it properly. And a version based on this file that deleted the overlapping parts and compiled only the Isle of Wight parts was previously available, but even that is no longer in circulation even among traders for the reasons mentioned at the beginning, and if this is the original reel copy version this time, it is not even available online. This is a high-grade CD that contains such a rare version sound source that is popular with connoisseurs! Woodside Bay, Near Ryde, Isle Of Wight, UK 31st August 1969(62:12) 1.
