Description

Until now, we have released live performances from the so-called Never Ending Tour during the period when Dylan was making a comeback, such as “EAST TROY 1988” and “MERCY FOR POUGHKEEPSIE” in 1989, but this time, we can finally say that it is a true hit. In 1990, this release combines live recordings from the end of January to February in Paris and London, which was praised by fans around the world as “the best performance.” This period has a good reputation, but compared to the London performance, which has many titles, the previous Paris performance has fewer items with substantial content, and the title “NIGHT OF THE GRAND REX” on January 30th is barely available. It existed to the extent that it existed. “LONON PARIS 1990”, which was expected to be the culmination of this period, was mainly based in London, and many enthusiasts were probably disappointed in the bonus track treatment for Paris. Therefore, this time we will first record the Grand Rex Theater in Paris on January 31st, which was the first time it appeared. The sound quality of all the audience recordings from this period is generally good, but the powerful on-sound image boasts an exceptional quality that will satisfy you on its own. Moreover, the live performance of this period is originally attractive for the sound of upper tension, but on this day too, a fierce performance was developed as if it were about to collapse at once from “To Be Alone With You”. This is the sound unique to the period when GE Smith was assigned as the guitarist, and the hard and speedy performance that will make you grin is overwhelming. Moreover, “Shelter From The Storm”, which was recorded at the same time and was not performed in London, was played at a speedy pace, and the hard-edged sound of a small and elite composition, which is completely different from the current Dylan band, is also a good sound image. Thanks to this, you will be able to enjoy it thoroughly. Anyway, the sounds are close and the wild performance is so intense that it would be no exaggeration to call it violent! And above all, you will be surprised that the sound source boasting such exceptional quality was sleeping in the Paris performance that took place before London. And this time, another recorded live is recorded from the performance at Hammersmith Odeon in London to the final day, February 8th. Not only is it the final performance of this period, but it is also a standard live performance that has been released many times due to the splendor of the song selection and performance content. In addition to the “LONON PARIS 1990” mentioned above, there have also been items such as “STAYING HERE WITH YOU” for a long time. Although there are multiple sound sources for this performance, we chose the audience recordings from these as they have the best sound quality. However, past items have the disadvantage that there are cuts in several places, including the intro part of “Where Teardrops Fall”. Therefore, this time, by connecting different sound sources, we have realized the first complete recording of the standard performances that have been released so far. Since this live performance is the final performance, there will be a parade of rare repertoire that will be appealing to enthusiasts. Songs such as “You Angel You” and “Pledging My Time” that are rarely played live are generously included. This will be their first live performance in Europe after the release of “OH MERCY,” which received high acclaim. More songs were performed here than in “MERCY FOR POUGHKEEPSIE”, including the opening song “Political World” from the same album. Let’s declare that it is the definitive live sound source of the same album period. Introducing a new standard that includes the longest version of such a classic sound source, Hammersmith, and the gorgeous coupling of Paris, a new sound source that boasts the best sound quality!
