Description

BLUE MURDER was the full bloom of genius guitarist John Sykes and the strongest trio in hard rock in the 1980s. This live album will give you the best experience of the shocking debut scene. This work is recorded in “November 28, 1989 New York performance”. It is a superb audience recording recorded at the legendary club “The Ritz”. BLUE MURDER/SYKES was synonymous with big in Japan, but in the debut era, they actively toured the United States. They were busy conquering the United States as if they were the ones who made “SERPENS ALBUS”. It’s a good opportunity, so let’s look back on the schedule at that time. “BLUE MURDER” released on April 24th – July 10th-29th: North America #1 (15 performances) – August 20th-27th: Japan (7 performances) – September 12th-October 7th: North America #2 (13 performances) – October 22nd-December 2nd: North America #3 (12 performances) ←★Here★ This is BLUE MURDER in 1989. Their materials are limited, so I can’t say for sure if the above is all there is, but unlike later years, North America was definitely the main focus. The New York performance of this work was the 11th performance of “North America #3”, which was the final concert. This work recorded at such a show is a fresh and realistic masterpiece audience. It’s not the type that you would mistake for a sound board in terms of tone, but that doesn’t mean it’s far away. The thick core on the soundboard is approaching, and combined with the closed-door feeling of the club size, it feels “right in front of you”. The guitar is particularly intense. The lustrous and powerful Black Beauty roars, pushing aside the bass and vocals! The wide vibrato and powerful choking are so delicate that you can hear the strings being raised, and you can hear the glissando and harmonics in detail. And it’s beautiful. When the guitar is focused to that extent, it’s not surprising that the peaks are distorted and noise occurs, but this work is an exception. It is beautifully depicted from the sharp start to the end where the first note disappears, and it doesn’t get crushed even when the rapid fire of machine gun picking explodes. In fact, the balance biased towards the guitar (and Nick Green’s keyboard) is not beautifully balanced, but that’s why it’s also a powerful “guitar album”. Such a thick direct sound depicts the passionate performance of the strongest trio aiming to dominate the United States. This day was also the opening for Billy Squier, so it was a short set, but that’s why it was so intense. In their first visit to Japan, they added covers of Rod Stewart, THE FIRM, and Jimi Hendrix to make up for their lack of repertoire, but in this work, all of that excess has been removed. The order, which lined up the representative songs of the masterpiece “BLUE MURDER” in a time of about 50 minutes, is a live performance version of the first album, and it seems to be a condensed version. Moreover, the deadly “Still Of The Night” is enshrined in the middle of it. And the performance that spells out the set is intense and unparalleled. It’s too late now, but the trio of Sykes/Carmine/Franklin is still amazing. Sykes’ guitar is extremely thick and flashy, and Carmine pushes back the pressure head-on while letting you hear the percussive singing spirit. And Franklin’s fretless dances teasingly between the two of them. Although the three members seem to be free-spirited in their own way, the tension pours drama into the songs that are carefully crafted. Moreover, because it is short, the concentration and explosiveness of sprinting the whole song is even more amazing. Even after the later Mendoza/Austin era and the name change to SYKES, the performance skills of each member were impeccable, and the greatness of the masterpieces was fully appreciated. However, this divine tension is only found in the original BLUE MURDER. This work is a live album that allows you to experience the miracle scene at its finest. The masterpiece “BLUE MURDER” is even more majestic than “SERPENS ALBUS”. This is a shocking live album that explodes with the band potential of the three who produced that super masterpiece. This is the pinnacle of genius guitarists and a record that allows you to experience the strongest trio in the history of British hard rock up close. An exquisite audience recording of the “November 28, 1989 performance at The Ritz”. The thick core of the sound is on and it feels like it’s right in front of you, combined with the closed-room feeling of the club. The guitar is particularly strong, with the wide vibrato and powerful choking being so delicate that you can hear the strings being raised, and you can hear every detail of the glissando and harmonics. Although it was a short set as an opening act, there were no covers like in the Japan tour, and the concentration throughout the entire performance was uninterrupted and unparalleled. This is a special live album that allows you to experience the best of the representative songs from the great album “BLUE MURDER” + “Still Of The Night”.
