Description

The “HEADLESS CROSS” era, which welcomed the hero Cozy Powell and depicted the extremes of stylized hard rock, has been reprinted. The apex pro shot has been decided. This work includes the “November 1989 Moscow performance”. “HEADLESS CROSS TOUR 1989” was a large-scale event that matched the richness of the work, and the tour expanded to new fields such as the United States, Europe, and Japan, as well as Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union, where reform and liberation were taking place at the time. This work is a multi-camera pro shot of two performances in Moscow, one in the day and one in the night, from the Soviet tour, which had a total of 25 performances. This video continued to be an incident for SABBATH fans. Although it was the Cozy era, which is extremely popular in Japan, unfortunately no official live albums were left. Years of excavation work produced official soundboard albums such as “HEADLESS IN VIENNA”, “MANCHESTER 1989 PRE-FM MASTER”, and “STILL HEADLESS”, but the video was hopeless. I was not able to see the “moving figure” of the super group of Iommi / Martin / Powell / Murray. This video healed that dryness. Not only was it a multi-camera pro shot, but it was two full performances. Its first appearance shocked enthusiasts all over the world, and after that, the shock was repeated every time an upgraded version appeared, such as the discovery and remastering of young gene masters. This work is the final and highest peak version. The master was re-produced from the original material stage, and the image quality and sound have been improved to an extent that cannot be compared to the original version. There is no white noise that was a nuisance in the existing group, and the clarity is just another area. The sharp and clear image beauty reproduces the incandescent performance as if it were yesterday. Of course, the sound is also the same. The hiss noise that was largely covered by the sound of the old version is almost not felt, and it has been reborn with a shining super quality. The quality depicts the world of that beautiful “HEADLESS SABBATH”. Disc 1 is commonly known as the “Afternoon Show”, and is a royal show compiled with a representative set list of the time. In addition to the masterpieces that represent Ozzy and Ronnie’s SABBATH, Tony Martin’s songs are traditional but open up new frontiers for the band, developing a show full of fresh charm. After starting the show with the new song “Headless Cross”, Martin’s fresh singing voice gives a different interpretation from the original, and the three masterpieces from the Ronnie era are so intoxicating and blissful that you forget the time passing. After the rare Ventures cover “Apache” and the dignified “When Death Calls”, this time they perform four super representative songs that are the core of the band since the Ozzy era in a row, but Cozy’s dramatic drumming breathes new life into all of them. Especially the unique presence and dynamism at the beginning of “Iron Man” and “Children Of The Grave”. It is completely one of a kind and irreplaceable. His sharp gaze and every move he makes, sometimes harmonizing with the band through the drums, sometimes confronting them, are cool. This is an important highlight that can only be seen in professional shot footage, which cannot be conveyed by sound alone. Instead, disc 2 is “Evening Show”. While the basic set is the same, some modifications have greatly changed the impression of the whole show. The structure itself is the same, with “Headless Cross” opening and “When Death Calls” in the middle, but the set list, with “Iron Man” and “Children Of The Grave” in the first half of the show, and “Die Young” and “Black Sabbath” as the show end, is a configuration that will be carried over to “TYR TOUR 1990”. It further emphasizes the fantastic musical world that the band presented at that time. Also, Neil’s appearance, who plays the impressive intro in “When Death Call”, is even mysterious. The silent, artisanal playing contrasts well with the crazy playing of SABBATH’s original bassist Geezer Butler, and it’s fun to watch the screen while thinking of the band’s past members. Speaking of silent, Tony Iommi, the band’s leader, is the true essence, but the fantastic and sensual guitar solo at the beginning of “Die Young” seems to loudly declare the completion of the band’s stylized beauty line. The encore on both days was a suite-style “Heaven And Hell” and “Paranoid”. The official recordings of both songs were used as coupling songs for the single “Fells Good To Me” the following year, but the band’s united performance at the end of the show is still more enjoyable in the video, and the joy of being able to monopolize this superb performance in front of the screen is a fan’s delight. In 1989, the socialist camp made a big turn towards democratization, and against the backdrop of the swell of the era, big Western artists such as SCORPIONS, OZZY OSBOURNE, and YNGWIE MALMSTEEN also performed historic shows in the Soviet Union (Russia), imprinting many excellent performances on the era. I think it was a historic fate that their live performances in the same place were left as official/pro-shot footage representing each band. BLACK SABBATH was no exception, and the performances of this era, which can be said to be the peak of their career, were left in excellent condition. Although no official live works were left behind, “HEADLESS SABBATH” was a performance that stood out among the best in history. This is the highest peak video where you can witness the scene with multi-camera pro shots. Live at Olympic Hall, Moscow, Russia 19th-28th November 1989 PRO-SHOT Disc 1: Afternoon Show 1.
