Description
Finally, finally, the day has come when this famous recording can be preserved forever. The historic live album that recorded the super rare songs “Wheels Of Confusion” and “Under The Sun” has been brushed up. The highest peak edition commemorating the 50th anniversary is here! The historic recording is “Dayton performance on July 15, 1972”. It is a masterpiece audience recording captured at one point of the “VOLUME 4 Tour”. Speaking of the symbol of this tour, the official sound board familiar from “LIVE AT LAST” and the super masterpiece of the audience “DEFINITIVE BRESCIA 1973” are symbols. Let’s start by looking at the whole picture of the tour, including those. 1972 {May “VOL.4” completed} July 7-September 15: North America (26 performances) ←★Here★ {September 25 “VOL.4” released} 1973 January 5-19: Oceania (7 performances) February 15-March 3: Europe (15 performances) ←※DEFINITIVE BRESCIA 1973 March 9-18: UK (10 performances) ←※Official soundboard August 2: London Music Festival appearance {September “SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH” production} [Historic best recording capturing extremely rare songs] This is the outline of the “VOLUME 4 Tour”. Both the official soundboard and “DEFINITIVE BRESCIA 1973” were released in 1973 after the album was released, while this work is much earlier. It was the fifth concert of the “North American” leg, which had not yet been released even though “VOL.4” was completed. The biggest point is this “early tour”. They tried out various new songs from “VOL.4”, and also played the super rare songs “Wheels Of Confusion” and “Under The Sun”, which immediately fell out of the set. There are many rare songs in the 1970s Sabbath, but these two songs are extremely rare. Both were only confirmed twice in the 1970s. In particular, “Wheels Of Confusion” was only three times in the entire history of Sabbath, including the reunion era. Let’s check out all three times here. July 15, 1972: Dayton performance ←★This work★ September 15: LA performance ←※WHEELS OF CONFUSION May 19, 2012: Warm-up gig ←※BLACK EASTER … and so on. Of course, the drummer on the 2012 “BLACK EASTER” is not Bill Ward, and the key is dramatically lowered, making it sound like a different song. “VOL.4” has only the potential of two times in 1972. And this is the best of the two. The other LA recording can be heard in our “WHEELS OF CONFUSION”, but the sound quality is several ranks lower and the recording stops halfway through. The Dayton recording is the very pinnacle of the record. [GRAF ZEPPELIN’s meticulous mastering worthy of the 50th anniversary] And this work is a record that updates the highest peak of such a pinnacle recording. It is a masterpiece among masterpieces that has been refining the existing best “1st Gene Master” with “GRAF ZEPPELIN” meticulous mastering. The sound is vivid and eye-opening. “GRAF ZEPPELIN”‘s method does not make unrefined sound pressure, but faithfully performs the basics such as pitch / phase adjustment, band analysis, noise removal … with demonic precision. What was particularly effective this time was the removal of hum noise. The original 1st Gene Master was familiar, but when I listened carefully with headphones, I heard a low-frequency noise that sounded like “buzz”. It has completely disappeared. The addition of balance correction by band analysis has made the high-pitched sounds clearer. It has been revived to a brighter, more vivid sound. Another slightly more niche point is phase correction. As is common with 70’s audiences, this recording was also recorded on-site with a mono microphone and dubbed to a stereo cassette. Perhaps because of this, the phase of the left and right channels shifted in the middle of the tape, and the localization sounded shaky from left to right. Therefore, in this work, we pursued and corrected it down to 1/1000th of a second, and then made it completely mono. As with the original recording, we have achieved a sound that is perfectly centered in the center. The live performance of “Wheels Of Confusion” and “Under The Sun” revived in this way… I am overwhelmed with emotion. In the first place, before the top audience’s “DEFINITIVE BRESCIA 1973” was unearthed, this recording was said to be “No. 1 of the VOL.4 tour”. This is the best ever version of the 1st Gene Master, the highest peak of such traditional recordings, which has been raised with meticulous mastering. This is the ultimate version worthy of the 50th anniversary. Remastering Memo Phase correction and complete mono conversion, with perfectly centered and stable localization Low frequency noise (hum noise) removal removes unpleasant noise. It’s quite refreshing. The sound is somewhat brighter due to band adjustment. Sweet Leaf The sound distortion at 0:15 is corrected to the extent that it does not become unnatural. This is a masterpiece audience recording of the “Dayton performance on July 15, 1972”. This is a famous recording that allows you to listen to the extremely rare songs “Wheels Of Confusion” and “Under The Sun”, which were only confirmed twice in the 70s, and is the highest peak update version in which “GRAF ZEPPELIN” has polished up the best existing 1st Gene Master. The hum noise is also beautifully eliminated, and the mid-to-high range is clear and the sound is the best ever. This is the birth of an absolute version that cannot be missed in the Sabbath AUD collection. Live at Hara Arena, Dayton, OH. USA 15th July 1972 (UPGRADE) (58:31) 1. Tomorrow’s Dream 2. Sweet Leaf 3.
