Description

Hammersmith Odeon is the famous venue where BLACK SABBATH has held the most performances in its 50-year history. Introducing an audience set that completes the 70’s record. Two titles will be released. “HAMMERSMITH STORY 1975-1976” which summarizes the Hammersmith performance of “SABOTAGE TOUR” and this work of “TECHNICAL ECSTAY TOUR/NEVER SAY DIE TOUR”. With these two pieces, you can complete the Hammersmith record left in the 70’s. First, let’s organize all Hammersmith performances and the composition of the series. ●“SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH TOUR”・May 21, 1974 ●“SABOTAGE TOUR”・October 22, 1975 [1st edition: DISC 1-2]・January 13, 1976 [1st edition: DISC 3 -4】●“TECHNICAL ECSTAY TOUR”・March 12, 1977・March 13, 1977 [This work: DISC 1-2]・March 14, 1977・March 15, 1977●“NEVER SAY DIE TOUR”・June 1, 1978・June 10, 1978 [This work: DISC 3]・June 19, 1978 [This work: DISC 4-5] & Official video This was done in the 70’s There are 10 performances at Hammersmith Odeon, of which only 5 performances have audience recordings. This work is a 5-disc set that includes 3 performances in 1976 and 1978. Also, speaking of “TECHNICAL ECSTAY/NEVER SAY DIE TOUR”, it is also known as the brother tour to core enthusiasts. The set composition and tour schedule are very similar, and there are many masterpieces from the same venue around the world. At our store, we are introducing such recordings at the same venue in a series, and this work is also the final installment. Now let’s organize that collection. ●Pittsburgh performance (December 8, 1976/September 2, 1978) → 3CD “PITTSBURGH 1976/1978: THE ULTIMATE EDITION” ●Fresno performance (November 9, 1976/September 22, 1978) → 3CD “IN FRESNO” ●Nashville performance (February 9, 1977/November 19, 1978) → 2CD “IN NASHVILLE 1978” ●Offenbach performance (April 7, 1977/October 11, 1978) → 4CD “IN OFFENBACH” ● Hammersmith performance (March 13, 1977/June 10, 1978 + 19 days) → 5CD [This work] 5 venues above. Not only are they all in the same city, but the venue is also the same. Furthermore, all of them are among the tour’s best masterpieces. The official soundboard of the Pittsburgh performance “PITTSBURGH 1976/1978: THE ULTIMATE EDITION” is also popular, but the audience’s “IN FRESNO” and “IN NASHVILLE 1978” are also outstanding recordings that can be counted as one of the top five in the 1970s. The tour, which is so fateful that five venues have great recordings, is unparalleled in the entire rock world. Of course, the reason why this can be a miracle is because it is accompanied by quality. The same is true for this work. Until now, only “June 19, 1978 (Discs 4-5)” had been released separately as “DEAD FAIRIES”, but it was “a complete version of the same show as the official video” and “The outro She’s Gone is extremely rare” Because there was a special. The other “March 13, 1977 (Disc 1-2)” and “June 10, 1978 (Disc 3)” are comparable in terms of quality. Each one has a different personality, and “March 13, 1977 (Disc 1-2)” has a powerful vintage sound that approaches you with great strength in the midrange and bass. “June 10, 1978 (Disc 3)” has a very clear sound and is the most well-balanced of the three performances. And “June 19, 1978 (Disc 4-5)”, which is familiar from “DEAD FAIRIES”, is even clearer, and the powerfully extending treble is very vivid. In terms of level, it feels like the two performances in 1978 (Disc 3/Disc 4-5) are half a step above, but it is a famous recording that has been loved by all three as a masterpiece of the 70’s. The show drawn with that sound is full of the flavor of the late 70’s. “Symptom Of The Universe”, which I finally realized was suitable for the opening (?), a new pattern jam section “Dirty Women/Rock ‘n’ Roll Doctor”, and “Electric Funeral”, which had actually not been played until this time, appeared. And so on, the atmosphere completely changed from the time up until “SABOTAGE TOUR”. Although the basic flow is the same for “TECHNICAL ECSTAY/NEVER SAY DIE TOUR”, the details are different for each, the former’s rare new song “Gypsy” is the latter’s “Never Say Die”, the former’s revival song is “N.I.B.” The latter has been replaced by “Fairies Wear Boots”. And the biggest thing of all is keyboard player Gerald Woodruff. He is only participating in the “TECHNICAL ECSTAY TOUR” and will be playing the Mellotron on new songs such as “Gypsy,” “Dirty Women,” and “Rock ‘n’ Roll Doctor,” as well as songs such as “Snowblind.” “SABOTAGE TOUR” and “TECHNICAL ECSTAY TOUR” were the only five-piece bands in the 70s that included a keyboardist. Because the basics are similar, the differences can be felt clearly. Enjoy the history of the band like a story in the same venue/situation. This is a luxury only available to collectors who research and collect. This is the second edition of the Hammersmith collection that will make you feel that luxury all at once. At the same time, this work is also the final work of the same-venue collection of the deeply connected “TECHNICAL ECSTAY/NEVER SAY DIE TOUR” (for beginners, there are official soundboards “PITTSBURGH 1976/1978: THE ULTIMATE EDITION” and the masterpiece “IN FRESNO”) ” is the best, but this work is a full show recording that cannot be enjoyed in both works). A 3-performance, 5-disc set that is a must-have for collectors.
