Description
The biggest and strongest title of the ’86 BLACK SABBATH collaboration between Tony Iommi and Glenn Hughes has been completed! A total of 6 recordings of Glenn SABBATH exist, including all 5 live performances and 1 tour rehearsal. Of these, 4 recordings from the 3rd to the final 5th performance and the tour rehearsal are in existence. This is a truly shocking surprise title that is covered in one title! The major landmark of this special project to complete Glen SABBATH is the simultaneous release of the title “FIRST & BEST”, but I can assure you that the item that really deserves attention is this work! The long volume of 6 discs totaling about 300 minutes has the weight of an encyclopedia, and will not fail to overwhelm any fan who loves ’80s BLACK SABBATH and Glenn Hughes! When this work is combined with “FIRST & BEST” (Vol.1) and the accompanying DVD “GLENN’S 2ND GIG” (Vol.2), the “COMPLETE GLENN HUGHES LIVES” series will be completed. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for fans, and it’s a one-of-a-kind opportunity that you shouldn’t miss! For all collectors, please don’t miss out! ! After the release of “SEVENTH STAR”, SABBATH began a US tour with a performance in Cleveland on March 21, 1986. However, Glenn, who was the front man, was not in perfect condition, and Iommi also had to face many hardships until he was able to take the stage. Therefore, after the second performance in Detroit, Michigan, Iommi officially notified Glenn of his dismissal. It must have been heartbreaking for Iommi to give up on Glenn, a talented musician and friend, even though it was for the sake of his band activities. The band quickly searched for a replacement singer, and bassist Dave Spitz recommended Ray Gillan, but Glenn continued to sing for the three performances until Ray was able to prepare and go on stage. . March 24th to 26th included in this work are those three days. Discs 1 and 2 include the third live performance, March 24, 1986, in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The sound source of this day has been known for a long time among traders mainly from overseas, but this is the first time it has appeared as a collector’s item! Despite being recorded far from the stage, the sound image is powerful, with a well-balanced range from high to low tones. The sound image is unstable in some places, perhaps because the taper hides the equipment, but overall it can be said to be an excellent sample for experiencing the metallic live sound of the mid-’80s. From this point on, Glenn’s condition has become difficult to manipulate, and the roughness of his vocals becomes noticeable. However, the backing team, led by Iommi, is familiar with the stage and gives a professional, flawless performance. Also, this was the last time Glenn would sing “Danger Zone.” This is a valuable take. Glenn’s vocal range doesn’t match up with songs from his Ronnie days, and it’s clear that he’s in poor condition as well as his performance, but he still seems to be comfortable singing songs from his Ozzy days, and in “War Pigs,” he shows off his ability with his heavy singing. It gives us a glimpse (you can even hear the sounds of exploding firecrackers on “Children Of The Sea” and this “War Pigs”). Also, in “Heart Like A Wheel”, where the mid-low tones are utilized like the songs from Ozzy’s era, Glenn is also able to achieve a performance close to the album take. Although some cuts can be seen in the middle of “Children Of The Grave”, Glen’s shout in the same song is intense, and this seems to be one of the best places to listen. There is no encore on this day and the show ends with “Heaven And Hell”. Glenn uses a lot of falsetto in the melody of this song, perhaps because his vocal range doesn’t suit him or because he’s trying to bring in his own color, which actually reduces the power of the song. However, his predecessor Ian Gillan also struggled with Ronnie songs such as this song and “Neon Knights.” The fact that the two singers representing DEEP PURPLE cannot fully demonstrate their abilities together conveys Ronnie’s greatness. Discs 3 and 4 contain the fourth performance of the tour, the performance in Providence, Rhode Island, held on March 25th. As with Day 3 (Discs 1-2), this is the first time this sound source has been made into an item, and there are probably many enthusiasts who have wanted to listen to the sound source of this day for a long time. The sound image that captures the wide atmosphere of the venue is top class among the three performances recorded in this work. The ceiling-shattering cheers conveyed the high expectations fans had for the band Iommi and Glenn were performing with. Glenn seems to have recovered somewhat from the previous day, and his voice is coming out from the opening song “The Mob Rules”. However, in “Children Of The Sea” where the vocal range does not match, the performance ends up being rough, creating a contrast with Iommi’s unwavering and ironclad guitar solo. The medley that flows from “Sympton Of The Universe” through “Sweet Leaf” to “Zero The Hero” has a metallic sound image that shines in the song, making it a highlight of this sound source. In “Seventh Star”, which is located at the end of the medley, Glenn’s shout is powerful and will surprise the listener. “Black Sabbath” is a big listening point in the second half of the live performance. Perhaps because Glenn’s suffering was directly reflected in the song, the explosion of gloom and madness here has a more realistic color than any other singer of all time. Wouldn’t it be impossible to recreate the “Demon King’s Laughter” and the space-splitting scream in the middle of the film if it weren’t for Glenn at this time? As a result, this day was Glenn SABBATH’s last performance, and along with “Neon Knights” and “Paranoid”, it is an important take that leaves an impression on the live performance (“Paranoid” here is like a song by Glenn at that time) As I listen to it, I can’t help but feel mixed emotions.) The next Disc 5 is packed with the 5th performance in Worcester, Massachusetts on March 26th, which was Glenn’s final day. This day’s recording was previously released by the Langley label as Disc 1 of “THE DECISION IN MASSACHUSETTS”, but for this special project, the sound was re-picked up from the master tape and the approximately 76 minutes recorded on the tape were recorded. Recorded on a fully remastered version. The characteristic of this sound source is that it has excellent freshness because the tape was well preserved, and the last performance for this lineup is reproduced with realistic sound. Glenn seems to be in a bad mood as usual, but on this last day, maybe it was “a weight lifted off his shoulders,” or maybe he was trying to do his best because it was the last time, but the entire show from the opening song “The Mob Rules” to the 4 performances so far. You can listen to the high-tension songs and intense shouts that exceed the above. On the other hand, in “Children Of The Sea”, which expressed a delicate tone on the first and second days, the singing that was left to the shout was inconsistent with the song idea, resulting in a noticeable hysterical sound. However, in Ozzy era songs such as “Sweet Leaf”, “Black Sabbath”, and “Children Of The Grave”, his carefree vocals are rather risque and dangerous, which is strange because they match the lyrics and the worldview of the song. . The biggest success of the day was Jeff Nichols, who was in charge of the chorus and keyboard. In addition to “Sweet Leaf” mentioned above, “Seventh Star” and “No Stranger To Love” also show solid work supporting the band’s sound, living up to the trust Iommi has had over the years. In particular, in “Heaven And Hell”, he sings more accurately than Glenn, and you can inadvertently understand his “singing skill”. After the Worcester performance on March 26th, SABBATH’s singer will be replaced by Ray Gillan, and the SABBATH story will continue with Ray’s opening night, “NO STRANGER TO LIVE: FIRST GIG WITH RAY” . It is a sad moment for Glenn, who left behind a historic performance on the album, to leave, but considering his personal problems, including his alcohol problems, which were extremely serious at the time, it was difficult for both Glenn and Iommi to part ways at this point. I guess I didn’t get it. However, for fans, each is a unique and memorable live performance. “The Voice Of Rock” and “The Godfather of Metal World” carved into history a series of miraculous co-stars from 25 years ago. And the last bonus disc includes the final rehearsal before the tour held in Hollywood on March 14th, with a superb audience recording. This sound source appeared as “TURN TO GLENN” nearly 15 years ago, and is a nostalgic sound source for veteran collectors. This time, of course, it is not just a re-recording, but the tape speed, which was noticeable in the previous release, has been adjusted correctly, and the excessive bass has been suppressed and the treble part has been appropriately corrected, giving us an outlook that could not be experienced in the previous release. We are ensuring. Like the actual show, the run-through that starts with “Supertzar” has an atmosphere just like the actual performance, and the tension that is about to start the tour seems to come to mind clearly. It can be said that it is a valuable piece that is suitable to decorate the end of this profound project. Since it is not a live performance in front of an audience, there is no MC between songs, and the performance progresses smoothly. However, the performance itself seems to be focused on the actual performance, with a clear outline of the performance that allows you to clearly grasp the music, and is so entertaining that it is hard to believe that it is a rehearsal. It seems that the recording was done very close to the stage, and all the members’ playing has an excellent sense of separation, especially in “Children Of The Sea” and “War Pigs” where Dave Spitz’s bass line You can hear it clearly. Also, “Turn To Stone” with Eric Singer’s drum solo is probably the best take of this lineup, and everyone’s playing is so spirited. Unfortunately, the tape ends with “No Stranger To Love”, but this 47-minute recording can be said to be worth more than just a bonus as an important document prior to the tour. Although Glenn SABBATH’s active period was short, it is a “fan’s dream” to complete one era. This work is a huge work that not only fans of SABBATH and Glenn but also DEEP PURPLE fans cannot afford to miss! Please take this opportunity to collect a precious era in your possession! It is the privilege of all of you who are passionate fans to unlock this closed history and sealed truth! ! Iommi and Glenn performed live together for the first time in 24 years at High Voltage Festival on July 24, 2010. However, it was a Ronnie memorial performance as HEAVEN AND HELL, and it was not an official combination of the two. I would like to conclude this special project by praying that they will be able to perform together again in a mutually satisfying manner in the future. 3RD GIG: 24th March Meadowlands Arena, East Rutherford (92 minutes) TRULY AMAZING SOUND 4TH GIG: 25th March Providence Civic Center (85 minutes) TRULY AMAZING SOUND 5TH GIG: 26th March Worcester’s Centrum Center (75 minutes) TRULY AMAZING SOUND TOUR REHEARSALS: 14th March Pacific Amphitheater, West Hollywood (47 minutes) TRULY AMAZING SOUND 3RD GIG: 24th March Meadowlands Arena, East Rutherford Disc 1 1.
