Finally, the final chapter of the disbandment tour “THE END” has begun. “THE END”, which began in January 2016, took a full year to tour the world. Sadly, they did not come back to Japan, and finally entered the final “Europe #2 leg” for the last concert on February 4th. Yes, everything will be over next weekend. It’s over. We have been reporting on numerous live albums since the start of “THE END”, but this work is the first report of the “final chapter of the final tour”, a superb audience album. This is the last tour of the heavyweight BLACK SABBATH. This work is an audience recording of the “January 17, 2017 Cologne performance (Germany)”, which is the first day of the final chapter “Europe #2 Leg”. This final chapter consists of 1 performance in Germany → 1 performance in Ireland → 7 performances in the UK. The Cologne included in this work is the last continental performance for BLACK SABBATH. This work is not just the “final chapter”. The biggest point is the revival of “Under The Sun/Every Day Comes And Goes” and “Rat Salad”. Up until this point, the set list of “THE END” has been getting shorter and shorter, and it has become more and more lonely. Considering their age, they were half-giving up, but now the two songs have been revived. I’m especially happy about “Under The Sun”. “Rat Salad” has been performed at most shows, and it’s more of a song that “was absent for a few shows” than a long-awaited song, but “Under The Sun” is different. It disappeared after only the first three shows of the tour and has not been played at all since. The heavy super masterpiece that maniacs around the world had given up on ever hearing again has been revived. This work, which came to the end and showed a pleasant surprise (albeit a small one), also has a great sound. Since “THE END” is a rare sound source abnormality in the rock world, it can’t be called “tour No. 1” lightly, but if it was an ordinary band, there would be no complaints. Although the vivid cheers are proof of the audience recording, the musical tones themselves depict a sense of boldness and fine details comparable to the lines. The sound is also glossy, Iommi’s riffs are heavy to the end, and Geezer’s gorilla is sharp to each grain. To be honest, it feels “great as always,” but it’s “as usual” in the recordings so far. It tells us how awesome the spirit of recorders around the world is to “leave the last BLACK SABBATH with my hands!” This work is the latest in such a group of works and is a masterpiece worthy of the opening of the “final chapter.” The “end of the end” has finally begun.
