Description
The latest work of the same venue recording series of “TECHNICAL ECSTASY TOUR 1976-1977” and “10TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR 1978” is now available! These two tours are known to BLACK SABBATH enthusiasts as being closely related. Not only were the setlists very similar, but the same venues were booked in different regions of the country. If that’s all there is to it, I can’t say it’s a coincidence, but the problem is the recording. If you pick up the representative sound sources of both tours, most of them are actually recorded at the same venue. Let’s take a look at the titles that have been released so far. ★Pittsburgh performance: Civic Arena (December 8, 1976 + September 2, 1978) 2CD “DEFINITIVE PITTSBURGH” “BRITISH BISCUIT” ★Fresno performance: Selling Arena (November 9, 1976 + September 22, 1978) 3CD “IN FRESNO” ★Nashville performance: Municipal Auditorium (February 9, 1977 + November 19, 1978) CD “IN NASHVILLE 1978” “IN NASHVILLE 1977″ What do you think? Pittsburgh is one of the best FM sound sources and soundboard sound sources, and Fresno and Nashville are among the top five ultra-high quality audience recordings in the 70s. If you are an enthusiast, you will either have one or have heard of the masterpiece recordings lined up. It is not uncommon to see so many masterpieces from the same venue, not only in the entire history of SABBATH, but also in the long history of rock. However, the recording at the same venue did not end there. This work we will be introducing this time is a set recorded at the same venue as “Offenbach Stadhalle” in Germany. All previous performances in the same venue series were in the United States, but this time it was the first European performance in the series (these are the only two Offenbach recordings from the 70s). What’s more, it is a coupling of complete recordings that has not been possible in the previous series! The composition of this work is a 4-disc set of 2 discs x 2 performances. Discs 1 and 2 are “TECHNICAL ECSTASY TOUR” recorded on “April 7, 1977,” and disks 3 and 4 are “10TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR 1978” recorded on “October 11, 1978.” Discs 3 and 4 are recordings that were once normally released as “GERMAN SHOCK WAVE (Shades 175)” and are a classic in 1978. However, the 1977 recordings on Discs 1 and 2 also have a sound that is quite similar to that classic, and are similarly praised by enthusiasts as “clear and powerful like a sound board”. The name of the taper is not known, but considering the fact that it was in the 1970s when there were few recorders, the same venue, and almost the same quality, it may have been recorded by the same person. This 1977 recording also includes the previously released “EUROPEAN ECSTACY”, but we used a younger generation master than that and finished it with a sound that takes advantage of the natural sound. In this way, the two tours observed from a fixed point at the same venue clearly highlight the differences precisely because they are similar. First of all, what is different is the members. In 1977 (discs 1 and 2), support keyboardist Gerald Woodruff participates, but in 1978 (discs 3 and 4) there are only four people: Ozzy, Iommi, Geezer, and Bill. Although the setlists of the two tours are very similar, the moods are clearly different. For example, in the classic “Snowblind”, on disc 1, the sound of the mellotron enlivens the atmosphere just like on the album, but on disc 3, only the four members cut into it solidly. Furthermore, the set list includes new songs at the time. The composition that starts with “Symptom Of The Universe” and connects with “Snowblind” and “War Pigs” is the same, but after that it is a new song position. In 1977 (Disc 1), “Gypsy” from “TECHNICAL ECSTASY” will be performed, and in 1978 (Disc 3), the title song of “NEVER SAY DIE!” and “Shock Wave” will be performed. In particular, “Gypsy” and “Shock Wave” were not played by Ozzy’s solo or reunited SABBATH, and the live versions can only be heard at that time, both later and earlier. Also, the two tours are very similar in the second half of the show. With “Dirty Women” as the starting point, they performed a nearly 30-minute long jam time that included various songs, and concluded with “Iron Man,” “Children Of The Grave,” and “Paranoid.” However, the structure of the jam time is different, and in 1977 (disc 2) it includes the main riff of “Rock ‘n’ Roll Doctor” and “N.I.B.”, and in 1978 (disc 4) it includes the main riff of “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath”. Furthermore, Disc 4 also includes the valuable outro scene of “She’s Gone”. Although it’s a maniacal difference, it’s a bootleg that allows you to enjoy the spontinous flow and atmosphere. And this is the “70s-only flavor” that is not found in the reunion SABBATH. This is the fourth same-venue collection of the closely related “TECHNICAL ECSTASY TOUR 1976-1977” & “10TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR 1978”. Of course, for those who are listening to both tours for the first time, we recommend “DEFINITIVE PITTSBURGH” with its superb soundboard and “IN FRESNO” with its ultra-high sound quality, but the fun of “same venue products” for both works is This is a 4-disc set that everyone who knows about this is a must-try. Each one is a masterpiece live album, but these two tours are complete for the first time by aligning two of the same venues. Moreover, it is the first set in the series to include a complete recording of both performances. Please take advantage of this opportunity.
