Description

Although there are many professional shots, the original 1970s BLACK SABBATH has very few official live videos. A compilation of their official videos in the highest quality has been decided to be released. In fact, there are only two live videos of SABBATH from the 1970s that have been made into official works. The only ones are the TV appearance on “Bremen, May 25, 1970” and the “Hammersmith performance on June 19, 1978”. Moreover, both are currently out of print. This work is a set of two types of videos that were reprinted from the highest peak version by overseas enthusiasts. Now, let’s take a closer look at each video. [Bremen, May 25, 1970: BEAT CLUB] First up is a famous video that represents the debut immediately after the debut, along with Brussels 70 (formerly known as Paris 70). These are four songs that were broadcast on the famous German program “BEAT CLUB”. In fact, the two songs were filmed separately, with “Black Sabbath” and “Blue Suede Shoes” recorded on “May 25th,” and the filming dates for “Iron Man” and “Paranoid” unknown. It was once said to have been recorded on “September 26th,” but it has been revealed that this was the broadcast date. This footage has been commercialized many times, perhaps due to the questionable rights. Half-official works such as “THE BEST OF MUSIKLADEN LIVE” and the CDV “BLACK MASS” have been loved. This work is different from those, and is a completely official release version that is considered to be the highest peak. It was created from the bonus DVD that came with the RHINO label’s “BLACK BOX.” It is a highly acclaimed box set with the finest remastering, but it is difficult to obtain now that 14 years have passed since its release. This work reproduces such exquisite visual beauty. And the live performance depicted with that quality is the best. It is not a concert but a studio live performance on television, and the frames and image processing that decorate them like Purikura are full of the feeling of the era. Especially valuable is “Blue Suede Shoes”. Of course, it is a cover of Elvis’s song, but it is a very rare song that has only been played once before or since. In fact, the TV station at the time requested a cover because they were worried about heavy and incomprehensible original songs. They performed it almost without any preparation. It is amazing that they managed to do it so well, but this is also typical of them right after their debut. In fact, their first album “BLACK SABBATH” was also produced almost entirely as a live recording in the studio, and they performed cover songs “Warning” and “Evil Woman” on stage. It is their debut album and this album that officially record their side as cover artists. [Hammersmith Performance on June 19, 1978: NEVER SAY DIE] The other official video is the traditional masterpiece “NEVER SAY DIE”, which records the 10th anniversary tour of the band’s formation. This has also been reissued several times in different media, but the last DVD in 2005 is now out of print. Used copies are also starting to become a premium item. Many people have seen this because it is more famous than BEAT CLUB, but it is a classic as expected. The quality of the release is the highest peak of many 70’s professional shots. The show drawn with that quality is also excellent. “Symptom Of The Universe”, “Never Say Die” and “Rock ‘n’ Roll Doctor”, which were never played after the reunion, are also delicious, and the summary set is wonderful because it is the 10th anniversary. And more than that, the performance itself. Unlike BEAT CLUB, which was a studio live, the liveliness and momentum of the stage where a large number of fans were witnessed is dazzling. It is also a nostalgic image of Ozzy standing on the right side for a long time and the tough-looking “Snowblind” being called “Ozzy bullying” (now we know that it was normal for them at that time). In addition to this, the history video also partially uses clips from Brussels 70, “It’s Alright” and “A Hard Road”, but these are the only two official live videos from the 70s that have been properly produced. And these two do not overlap at all with the super masterpiece compilation of 70s pro shots “OZZY OSBOURNE YEARS ULTIMATE EDITION”. Such official footage depicts the brilliance of the 70s that never returned, no matter how much they reunited. This is a piece that allows you to witness that dazzling scene in the highest quality.
