Description
The second day of BLACK SABBATH’s 1983 tour, Stockholm, Sweden, is being released with the best audience recording master ever! This “BORN AGAIN” tour has seen the release of a series of high-quality sound sources, such as the recently released “READING ROCK ’83” and “DEMON SEED,” a pack of three North American tour shows, all of which have been very well received by fans. The audience sound source of this Stockholm performance has been recognized as a standard among overseas enthusiasts since the analog era as “a live performance recorded in good condition immediately after the start of the tour,” and many titles have appeared. In this work, the sound is created by selecting the particularly good condition of the title “BITCH,” which is said to be one of the best analog masters among the various existing ones. Of course, careful remastering and treatment work was performed in the process of recording, and while taking advantage of the quality of the master, we aimed to step up to a sound source several ranks higher, and it has been completed as a superb sound source that meets the expectations of all the fans who have supported the works released so far! The intro to the show is not the familiar “Supertzar”, but “Stonehenge”, a more mysterious instrumental from “BORN AGAIN”, which leaves a strong impression on the start of the “Gillan era live” as well as the “E5150” from the Ronnie era. The air and view that gives a sense of the spaciousness of the venue are wonderful, and the listeners will be thrilled by the exquisite realism. When the performance starts with the opening “Children Of The Grave”, you will be surprised by the stability like a line sound source. Ian Gillan’s vocals, firmly focused in the center of the localization, Tony Iommi’s guitar, Geezer Butler’s bass, and Bev Bevan’s drums can all be clearly heard, and the audience noise is not at all bothersome. The sound balance, which seems to have been consciously mixed, is at an exceptional level for an audience recording from nearly 30 years ago! In “Hot Line,” with its impressive groovy bass and drum rhythm, Gillan’s singing is also in top form, and you can enjoy Gillan’s strengths in the form of shouts at key points and light singing that exudes his background as a rock and roller. Not only this “Hot Line,” but in the early days of the tour, there were many set-ins from new songs, which made it a great listening experience. “Born Again” and “Keep It Warm” were also available in good quality on “READING ROCK ’83,” but this recording offers even more balanced and high-quality takes. Gillan’s presence is also prominent in “Disturbing The Priest” and “Zero The Hero,” which are highlights of the live performance, and in terms of expressing a destructive and evil atmosphere, it even makes you think that Gillan was the most suitable person among all the SABBATH singers. In the early days of the tour, there were no songs selected from the Ronnie era, and the set consisted of new songs from “BORN AGAIN” and classics from the Ozzy era. For Gillan, this set was a small burden and gave him a lot of freedom, and he gave new life to classic numbers such as “War Pigs”, “Supernaut”, “Iron Man”, and “Black Sabbath” with his own interpretation. Gillan said in a later interview that “I’m not a cover singer”, and as he said, everything gives the impression of another original that goes beyond the Ozzy era. Avid enthusiasts may be reluctant to say that this Gillan era is “SABBATH classic that surpasses Ozzy”, but if you listen to the powerful “War Pigs” and “Black Sabbath”, you will surely understand. Iommi’s guitar gives a metallic edge, while Gillan shouts like a wild beast, and the highlights of both songs are a must-listen for all SABBATH fans! It goes without saying that the encore performance of “Paranoid” was highly polished, but on this day, the transition to the riff of “Heaven And Hell” did not go well, and the performance was a little slower than usual, which is also worth listening to. (Unfortunately, there is a cut at the end of “Iron Man” due to the master.) The early live performance of the ’83 tour was also available on the previously released “NEVER AGAIN” (Shades), which was a performance in Oslo, Norway on the first day, but unfortunately it was an incomplete version with cuts and omissions. This work records the rare set list unique to the early part of the tour, the passionate performance of the band, and even more outstanding high-quality sound, so your frustration will disappear as soon as you listen to it. Not only is it a documentary material that serves as a prologue to the legendary ’83 Reading Festival, but the performance is full of entertainment, with the outrageous energy unique to this era, and you can enjoy it no matter how many times you listen to it. This work can be said to be a supreme live performance that appeals greatly in both documentary and entertainment aspects. If you are a beginner and would like to listen to the audience sound source of the first half of the ’83 tour, please start with this one! This is a highly recommended title that both BLACK SABBATH and Ian Gillan fans cannot miss! Live at Johanneshovs Isstadion, Stockholm, Sweden 19th August 1983 TRULY AMAZING/PEREFCT SOUND Disc 1 1.
