Description
In response to the passionate love calls from fans, a rare live recording of BLACK SABBATH has been reissued! The first release will be from the 1981 “MOB RULES” tour in North America! This work, which was recorded in full by audience at the Quebec performance in Canada, which was the first day of the “MOB RULES” tour on November 15, 1981, contains the entire live performance with high sound quality that is more than enough for an overseas live recording 37 years ago, and has been a big topic among fans since the time of the last release. This is truly good news for those who missed the last opportunity and fans who have newly awakened to the charm of SABBATH live. In addition to the traditional official live recording “LIVE EVIL”, this “MOB RULES” tour has two titles, “LIVE AT HAMMERSMITH ODEON” which cuts off the peak of the tour, and each is a great landmark for all SABBATH fans. However, even with these superb official recordings, you cannot hear “Turn Up The Night” and “Falling Off The Edge Of The World”, which were dropped in the set several times after the start of the tour. The value of this work, which allows you to enjoy these masterpieces in stable quality, has not been diminished in any way, and its importance remains unclouded even today. Since it was the first day of the tour, the flow of the live performance felt a little tentative, but there was not a single negative element in the band’s performance. Tony and Geezer’s string section still showed a great presence, and Ronnie’s vocals were simply overwhelming. Vinnie featured his characteristic many moves and was a great success that surpassed the main role with his powerful drumming. The divine dignity that runs through the entire live performance, the super-class performance full of dynamism, is simply overwhelming. The set list, which included six songs from the new album (seven songs if you include the opening intro “E5150”), was very different from the “HEAVEN AND HELL” tour that took place until February of the same year, and loudly proclaimed the arrival of the full-fledged Ronnie era. The “MOB RULES” tour took place for about 10 months, from the Toronto performance of this work to the performance in Hoffman Estates, Illinois on August 31, 1982, which was released as “MOB FINAL” (Shades-199). During that time, the set list changed many times, and the new songs were narrowed down to three songs, “Voodoo”, “The Mob Rules”, and “Sign Of The Southern Cross”, so the introduction of a large number of new songs on this day was a generous gesture unique to the first day. All of them are important takes that you cannot miss. Of course, “Iron Man”, “War Pigs” and “Children Of The Grave”, which have become synonymous with SABBATH since Ozzy, are still alive and well, and the live performance, which exquisitely mixes new and old numbers, is so fulfilling that it could replace a best album in itself. One of the major features of this sound source in the songs from the Ozzy era is the pattern break in which “Paranoid” is placed before “Heaven And Hell”. From the beginning of the “HEAVEN AND HELL” tour, a reprise of a passage of “Heaven And Hell” after “Paranoid” was possible, but here it is expanded and “Paranoid” is used as the introduction to “Heaven And Hell”. Perhaps this arrangement was felt to be “too much”, as from the next show, “Heaven And Hell” became a suite format including “Paranoid”, and the flow that can be heard in “LIVE EVIL” was formed. It can be said that the fact that they experimented with songs to be set in and song orders in this way makes the live performances of this period more attractive. This live performance is full of highlights that only a premiere can offer, and you will never get bored of listening to it from the opening to the end of the show! If you are an avid fan, you will forget the passage of time and listen to it all in one go! This hard and rare two hours will remain in the history of SABBATH live performances, and is definitely a must-have for all SABBATH fans.
