Description
Billi Joel’s 2020 report, whose recently released “MADISON SQUARE GARDEN JANUARY 2020” has been very well received. The latest live album is now available. This work was recorded at “New York performance on February 20, 2020.” This is a masterpiece audience recording recorded at the home base “Madison Square Garden (hereafter MSG)” which has become a monthly tradition. If the January performance of the previous work was MSG, February will also be MSG… Our current activity style started in 2014, and MSG performances have been held almost once a month. Even though I say “almost”, there is only one exception. Although there was no MSG performance in September 2016, probably due to a European performance, two performances were held in November instead. In total, we continue to maintain a monthly pace. Of course, shows in other cities are held in parallel, but the number is decreasing year by year, and the weight of MSG performances is increasing accordingly. This work is an audience recording recorded at the scene of such a regular performance, but this is also a masterpiece. Of course, I’m not the type to mistake the sound board, but on the other hand, it’s not like MSG either. The strong core pierces straight through the clear air, and the details are clear. The combination of spatial sense and vividness is as vivid as a laser beam flying through the venue. MSG can never be said to be an easy venue to record, but it is possible to achieve such clear sound in such a difficult venue… I’m a little off track, but maybe that’s not surprising at all. This work was released by the modern master “bcironmaiden”. Although the name may lead you to think that it’s a heavy metal band, it’s actually a classic rock band. The sound that makes full use of the famous “Schoeps MK4’s” is exquisite, and masterpieces by Nick Mason and Paul McCartney have become popular at our store. In particular, Billy’s MSG performance is recorded every year, and some of you may remember the masterpiece “MADISON SQUARE GARDEN 2019: 70TH BIRTHDAY SHOW”. This work is also the latest work of such a master who is used to Billy and MSG. With such a sound, a full show where you can enjoy plenty of famous songs from the past. I think many people are enjoying the previous work “JANUARY 2020”, so let’s organize the sets while comparing them. 70’s (11 songs)・Piano Man・New York Story: Miami 2017 (Seen the Lights Go Out on Broadway) / New York State of Mind・Stranger: Vienna / The Stranger / Movin’ Out (Anthony’s Song) / She’s Always a Woman/Only the Good Die Young/Scenes From an Italian Restaurant・52nd Street New York: My Life/Big Shot 80’s/90’s (12 songs)・Glass House: Don’t Ask Me Why/It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me/You May Be Right・Nylon Curtain: Pressure/Allentown/Where’s the Orchestra? (◆★)/A Room of Our Own (★)・Innocent Man: Uptown Girl・The Bridge: Big Man on Mulberry Street (★)・Storm Front: The Downeaster Alexa (◆)/We Didn’t Start the Fire・River of Dreams: The River of Dreams Cover・Nessun dorma/Jam#1 (Born to Run/Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out/Kashmir/Goodbye Yellow Brick Road) (★)/Jam#2 (I Heard It Through the Grapevine/Take It Easy) (★) *Note: “◆” indicates a collaboration with Itzhak Perlman. “★” marks are songs that could not be heard in the previous work “MADISON SQUARE GARDEN JANUARY 2020”. …and it looks like this. In addition to the synonymous “Piano Man”, the selection includes a wide selection of works from “A New York Story” to “River of Dreams”, with a heavy selection of masterpieces “The Stranger” and “Nylon Curtain.” Generally, there are hit singles and live staples lined up, but among them, the ones that hit my ears are “Where’s the Orchestra?” and “A Room of Our Own.” In addition, some delicious guests will appear on “Where’s the Orchestra?”. Jon Bon Jovi’s participation in “JANUARY 2020” became a hot topic, but the guest for this work is the great Israeli violinist: Itzhak Perlman. Not only “Where’s the Orchestra?”, but also another song “The Downeaster Alexa” will give you a wonderful performance. Another thing that is valuable is the cover. On this day, they jammed cover songs at two locations, playing out famous songs by Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, LED ZEPPELIN, EAGLES, etc. one after another. Speaking of the spectacle of MSG that flares up when it detects such a famous phrase… I wrote earlier that it was a “recording that is not typical of MSG,” but that is just a matter of sound quality. The loud chorus and resounding sound that fills the huge venue is definitely unique to MSG, and you can witness the heated scene with ultra-realistic sound. The annual MSG performance has now become Billy’s life’s work. This is a masterpiece of a live album that completely records the latest stage with a master leaning on his arm. A masterpiece that allows you to experience a full show with a variety of valuable covers and corners.
