Description

The strongest live performance has been released, recorded in a noiseless 24-bit remastered sound source from a radio broadcast sound source excavated from a live performance at a club on July 3, 1975, which also served as the debut of the album, before the recording of Billy Harper’s masterpiece “Black Saint”. His second album “Black Saint”, recorded at Berkeley Studios in Paris over two days on July 21 and 22, 1975, is said to be a masterpiece among masterpieces by jazz lovers and tenor lovers, and was often played at jazz cafes at the time. The sound source released by Mega Disc this time is a live performance before the album recording, and of course the members are very motivated. Two songs from “Black Saint” and one song from his first leader album released in 1973 are played. The same live recording from 1975 was released on July 24 at Antibes Jazz (35 minutes), but there is no comparison and the performance on this board certainly surpasses it. Joe Bonner, a pianist known for his collaborations with Pharoah Sanders and others, also plays a cool solo that you won’t find in studio recordings. This is a masterpiece that you won’t regret buying. Live at Laren, Netherlands 07/03/1975 1. Call Of The Wild And Peaceful Heart (24:15) 2. Member Introduction (1:34) 3. Capra Black (19:20) 4. Croquet Ballet (inc 11:05) Billy Harper (ts) Virgil Jones (tpt) Joe Bonner (p) David Friesen (b) Malcolm Pinson (dr)
