Description

The news of Tim Bogart’s death shocked the whole world. BB&A’s new excavated live album, which appeared as if to commemorate his great accomplishment, is now available. What is infused into this work is “January 29, 1974 Edinburgh performance”. This is the newly discovered audience recording. The appearance of this recording is truly shocking. At this very moment, enthusiasts all over the world are excited. The biggest reason is the date. In fact, BB&A’s last record until now was “January 26, 1974.” It was the familiar “RAINBOW 1974 1ST SHOW”. However, the Edinburgh performance of this work was three days later. Not only is it a new excavation master, but the last sound of the trio that was called “the strongest in the rock world” has been updated (by the way, the Edinburgh performance in 1974 was previously said to be “January 9th”). As I will explain later, this time it is unlikely that the date is wrong because it is a prestigious excavation, and it is unclear whether the previous date was wrong or whether there was another Edinburgh performance. It’s going to have to wait). Aside from that, this work, which is a vacuum-packed version of such a final show, has a wonderful sound. Since it is an introduction to the Uxbridge label, it is not as good as “RAINBOW 1974 1ST SHOW”, but it is unfair to target miraculous recordings that are famous in history. This work is an exquisite vintage recording that cannot be imagined to have been excavated beyond 47 years of time and space. What is especially wonderful is the freshness and neat sound produced by the master freshness, and the clear feeling of air. The first one is “freshness”, but this is amazing. After all, it is the 1st Janet Master that was hidden in the archive collection of the prestigious “JEMS”, which has now become the standard for vintage excavation. What’s more, it was digitized by “Krw_co.” This is a collaborative project between two great names that cannot be avoided when researching the history of British rock in the 1970s. In fact, the sound of this work proves its origin. Although the tone is not as close as “RAINBOW 1974 1ST SHOW” and has a vintage feel, the core is strong enough to offset that sense of distance, and the details are clear. The live performance at this time was also playing new songs from the 2nd album that ended in illusion, but the sound was so good that you could even follow the lyrics. Now that we’ve talked about the songs that will be performed, let’s check out the set as well. TRUTH・Morning Dew/Blues Deluxe/You Shook Me BECK, BOGERT & APPICE・Livin’ Alone/Lady/Superstition 2nd album repertoire・Satisfied/Song For The Lovely Lady (Laughin’ Lady)/Solid Lifter/Jizz Whizz/Prayin’ /(Get Ready) Your Lovemaker’s Comin’ Home Others・Edinburgh Boogie…and so on. In fact, the content and song order are the same as “RAINBOW 1974 1ST SHOW”. The name of the song “Song For The Lovely Lady” is unfamiliar, but this is also a new song for the 2nd album, which is called “Laughin’ Lady” in other performances. Of course, the set is familiar from “RAINBOW 1974 1ST SHOW” (I don’t think there are anyone who is interested in this article who has not experienced this super masterpiece, but if you are, please try it now. Please), but the performance is different. As expected, the quality and improvisation are similar after only 3 days, but the final point of evolution that has taken a step further is enough to send a chill down your spine. Speaking of 1974, it was a time when LED ZEPPELIN, who inherited the great achievements of CREAM, reigned as the leader of the rock world. Among them, it was BB&A that none other than Jeff Beck competed with “hard rock”. They put serious phrases on a sound that is neither Motown-style JBG #2 nor solo fusion, and have created an ensemble that is said to be the strongest in the rock world, surpassing CREAM. What flows out of this work is the “sound” that such a miraculous unit finally reached. At this moment in 2021, the “shock of new discoveries” is traveling around the world. Newly discovered audience recording of “January 29, 1974 Edinburgh Performance”. A new excavated recording later than “RAINBOW 1974 1ST SHOW”, which has been considered BB&A’s last until now. Moreover, the sound is wonderful, and the prestigious “Krw_co” has digitized the 1st Janet master that was hidden in the archive collection of the prestigious “JEMS”. This is a live album worthy of a cultural heritage, discovered by two great names in the collector world. (Remaster Memo) Fixed the slow pitch.
