Description

This Essen recording is not only the first Beatles recording in a long time, but also a complete live recording and soundboard recording, topped off by a rare recording from their 1966 German concert, creating a huge sensation. It’s truly astonishing that such a soundboard recording could have been buried for nearly 60 years. Furthermore, the HMC disc that first popularized this recording was unexpectedly heavily noise-reduced upon its release. As a result, the “ESSEN 1966 SOUNDBOARD,” based on the version first released on YouTube, went from being a best-seller to a sellout! However, it’s unthinkable that a stable supply of the precious 1966 Beatles soundboard from Germany would ever be cut off. Therefore, a second edition release was essential, even before demand for a re-release began. Of course, this historic recording would have been well-received in its original form, but now, lossless files that bypass YouTube are available. So, rather than just a second edition with a different cover, this is a literal second edition, with the audio replaced as well. The original YouTube version, which served as the basis for the previous release, was also audio-only, with low compression. However, when it was repurposed for other accounts, it was compressed and the sound quality deteriorated. Furthermore, there’s no way noise reduction was used. While the audio is virtually indistinguishable from the original YouTube version, the original file is still lossless, so it’s only natural that it be used for this second edition release. As mentioned earlier, the cover art has also been redesigned to coincide with this second release. While the previous version featured a shot of The Beatles in Essen from behind the stage, this time it features an image of Essen from the front. The design, featuring John wearing sunglasses onstage, is a major draw. While there are many items in Essen that use images from the previous day’s Circus Krone and even the completely unrelated ’66 tour on the cover, a new second edition will be released with artwork that clearly emphasizes the “Essen” feel. If you missed the previous version, don’t miss this one. This is a newly discovered soundboard that is truly great no matter how many times you listen to it!
