The Philadelphia performance on September 2, 1964 has been upgraded with a direct sound source from the reel master and further digitally remastered. The sound is smooth without any noise reduction, and the vocals and instruments are separated and three-dimensional, which is impressive. The original sound source of the 1964 Philadelphia performance, which is popular as one of the Beatles’ best performances, is a reel master that a big American collector obtained from a person involved at the time of WIBG-AM, a local radio station in Pennsylvania. And while the same label has released items that were directly recorded in the past, this time it has been re-released as an upgraded version that has been carefully corrected and adjusted in pitch and level. Although the band call part is not included, the fresh sound that cannot be found in AM on-air air checks or sources that have been dubbed over is particularly impressive, especially the freshness of the vocals. In addition, the powerful harmonies that seem to jump out of the speakers, the edgy guitar, and other features make use of the transparency that only a reel can provide, without going through a cassette or other media, so unless there is an official release, you can’t expect better quality than this. In the second half, the Indianapolis performance the following day is also recorded with the best soundboard sound source provided by a Beatles researcher on the East Coast, and similarly corrected with professional digital remastering, resulting in unprecedented stable quality.
