Description
This is an excavated sound source recorded from the 1966 North American tour, which was the last tour for the Beatles, including the night part of the Toronto performance on August 17th, including the opening act. This sound source was announced last year as a scoop by a Canadian newspaper and became a worldwide topic, and after many twists and turns, it was finally released. The sound source included in this work was created by a journalist who visited the Toronto performance at the time to interview people at the venue, and when the concert began, he pointed the interview microphone directly at the stage and did not stop the tape. This is what was recorded. Even though it is a so-called hidden recording, it is different from what was recorded in the general audience seats, and it may have been recorded in the press seats, because the surroundings are relatively quiet, so you can clearly hear the bass line etc. The sound quality is so clear that it can even be transcribed. Disc 1 begins with a conversation in the car where the recorder is driving with his family to the venue. When they arrive at the venue, they talk to familiar faces such as security guards, and the voices of the merchandise vendors are also recorded. When you enter the venue, the buzz before the performance adds to the excitement, and “RUBBER SOUL” is playing as background music. This is the first time that we can learn about the state of concerts from the 1960s before they started. Not to mention the fact that their song was being played at the venue before the performance. As a side note, this “RUBBER SOUL” is probably an American compilation. In this way, the feature of this work is that it is a valuable document of not only the concert, but also the outside and inside of the concert venue. It can be said to be a historical document that shows exactly how the concert was held in 1966. There are a total of 4 groups on the undercard. The recorder left the tape for the main Beatles, but with the intention of recording all the songs for the opening act, even if they were short as a record, he recorded all the songs of each performer, although only halfway through each song. What is recorded is the spirit of a journalist. REMAINS has 4 songs, BOBBY HEBB has 5 songs, and CYRKLE has 7 songs. The opening act was performed by RONNETTES, and 6 songs were recorded. In particular, since “BE MY BABY” was a famous song at the time, the recorder recorded the entire song without stopping the tape. After the undercard ends, there is a short break before the Beatles appear, during which interviews with fans in the venue are recorded. An exciting interview in the venue just before the Beatles’ stage was about to begin. You can almost feel the Beatles’ performance getting closer. Disc 2 is a performance by the Beatles featuring Shinuchi. The performance of the Toronto night section, which will be appearing for the first time in its entirety, will appear here after several decades. The Beatles appeared with the host’s introduction, and when they took the stage they began tuning as usual. The show opened with John’s “Rock And Roll Music.” At this time, the tour started in a disturbing atmosphere with the Christ utterances, so the performance was tense and very tight, and it was wonderful and full of a sense of speed, which was the opposite of the relaxed performance in Japan. Unfortunately, the beginning of “Baby’s In Black” is not recorded, but other than that, it is completely recorded, and you can enjoy this fulfilling performance. Since this is the youngest date of the 1966 North American tour sound source that has been unearthed so far, the performance is close to the previous Japanese performance, and it seems that Paul alone was enthusiastic and John and George were doing it calmly. The characteristics of this period are clearly evident. “I WANNA BE YOUR MAN” sung by Ringo is also a lively performance that you can see the smile on Ringo’s face. Excitement reached the climax at the final scream of “LONG TALL SALLY,” and the concert came to a close with a rush that felt like a storm passing away in an instant. Even after the concert was over, the person who recorded this sound source continued to interview fans with a microphone as they left the venue. The excited voice of the girl is impressive. In the distance, I heard the voice of a girl crying with emotion. It is a complete document of everything from entering the venue, through the concert, to leaving the venue. It is a title that records the complete first appearance 1966 Toronto performance from the undercard. In the 1966 North American tour, which had few sound sources, this is the fourth performance following Candlestick and Memphis two performances in almost complete form. Moreover, it was recorded with stable sound quality by a person involved, not an amateur. Moreover, what increases its historical value is not only the Beatles part, but also the fact that it includes everything from inside and outside the venue to the undercard of the day. The undercard performance of the 1966 North American tour is a valuable thing that has never been heard anywhere before. And the performance of the main act Beatles is recorded well, except for the beginning of “BABY’S IN BLACK”, and “LONG TALL SALLY” until the end of the ending.
