Description

A live recording of the legendary Hollywood Bowl concert in August 1964, which recorded the enthusiasm and excitement of the whole United States! A complete reproduction of the phantom live album that was unreleased at the time, with unedited stereo master and mono acetate sound source! ! Capitol’s unreleased live album Live at the Hollywood Bowl 1964″ The Beatles, who made a sensational first appearance in the United States in February 1964 and caused a storm of enthusiasm across the United States, began their first full-scale US tour with 32 performances in 25 cities in North America from August to September. Capitol had been planning a live album of the Beatles since their first appearance in the United States, when their major debut single “Dakishimetai” became a million-seller, and had planned to record a live performance at Carnegie Hall in New York in February 1964, but this did not come to fruition, and instead recorded at the Los Angeles Hollywood Bowl performance on August 23rd. Three-track equipment was brought in for a full-scale official live recording, but George Martin and the British side were not satisfied with the unexpectedly enthusiastic cheers of the audience and the recording quality, so the album was shelved, and although acetate test pressings and jacket designs were prepared, The Beatles’ first live album remained unreleased. In the 1970s, bootlegs based on acetates of this unreleased live album appeared, and many releases followed as standard Beatles live recordings, along with those from Shea Stadium and Japan. In this situation, Capitol Records again ordered the master tapes from the warehouse and asked George Martin to edit them, releasing the first official live album, “The Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl,” in 1977. However, the album was an edited album of the best songs from two performances at the same venue, recorded in 1964 and the following year in 1965. This 1977 release version was released on record and tape, but was discontinued without being made into a CD. In 2016, it was released with a remastered new jacket design to coincide with the release of the documentary film “The Beatles / Eight Days a Week ~ The Touring Years”. It has not been officially released as the original live album of 1964 as originally planned. CD = Original Capitol Masters (Stereo & Mono) A complete recording of the original stereo mix based on the sound source recorded with 3-track equipment that was planned to be released as a live album in 1964. There have been many releases as a standard since the 1970s, and the sound quality has been improved repeatedly, but this time it is recorded in the new 2024 version latest stereo remaster. It has been remastered with even clearer and more vivid vocals and powerful performances, and is recorded in HQ sound that has been clearly upgraded compared to before. In the second half, a mono mix of the acetate test pressing that was shelved at the time is recorded. This is the source of the analog bootlegs from the 1970s, and at the time the sound quality was degraded and there were sound skips, so it is now a nostalgic vintage sound source, but it has been recorded in the finest master quality that has cleared such problems. The direct and impactful powerful sound unique to mono is in a different dimension from stereo, and although it was not released due to dissatisfaction with the recording condition, it perfectly reproduces the immersive sound of the original live album that conveys the enthusiasm and excitement. DVD = Video Album / Video Extra The video album contains all the songs from the 1964 Hollywood Bowl performance, which was originally edited by combining news footage and recording film. Although it is now a historic live performance, there was no TV broadcast at the time and only fragmentary black and white footage remains, and the audio is recorded in a new 2024 version latest stereo remaster based on the existing good quality video material. It is a valuable video archive that captures the enthusiasm of the time and the Beatles’ performance. In addition, the latest AI-edited color video version and unedited film footage are added as video extras. This is the latest edited video version DVD of the 1964 Hollywood Bowl performance. The original live album, which was produced by Capitol Records and went unreleased, has been completely reissued with the jacket design that was planned at the time. Both the unedited stereo master and the mono mix from the original acetate disc produced at the time are included. The video album includes video footage of the entire concert reproduced in the original edit. In addition, the latest AI-edited color footage and unedited film footage are included.
