The audio album includes three sound sources, the latest new stereo remix and the original stereo mix & mono mix from the 60s. You can compare each sound source with the audio selection. The original album edited by US Capitol “Help (Four People Are Idols)” An album edited by US Capitol released on August 13, 1965 as the soundtrack album of “Help!”, the second movie starring the Beatles. The original album “Help!”, released in the UK on August 13, 1965. The album is different from the original British album, A Hard Day’s Night, and the album concept is the same as the American version of the first movie, A Hard Day’s Night, with 7 Beatles songs used in the movie and 5 instrumentals by the Ken Thorne Orchestra, for a total of 12 songs. This continues Capitol’s unique editorial policy of distributing the 7 songs on the B-side of the British original album Help! between the previously released Beatles VI and the US versions Rubber Soul and Yesterday and Today, which will be released later. Also, while the previous soundtrack was released by the movie distributor United Artists (later reissued by Capitol), this time it is cleverly released by Capitol. The jacket design is also different from the British original album, with a gatefold jacket that emphasizes the movie title, typical of American soundtracks, and uses many color photos from the movie. His first film, A Hard Day’s Night, was shot in black and white to cut production costs, but Help! had a much larger production budget and was shot in full color, not only in the UK but also in the Alps and the Bahamas. The film features instrumental music that matches the scenes, and the exotic arrangements, such as the sitar performance at an Indian restaurant, seem to have predicted the Beatles’ future. George’s encounter with the sitar was also triggered by this film, and he became interested in Indian music from then on. Although the album was released as a soundtrack for the film, it topped the Billboard album chart for nine consecutive weeks, due in part to the Shea Stadium concert on August 15, 1965, which drew the largest audience in history. In the US, it sold over a million copies in 1965 alone. CD = Original Capitol Masters (Stereo & Mono) Contains analog master sound sources that faithfully reproduce each stereo and mono track from the original 1965 album edited by Capitol. The sound source is a direct transfer from the original 1960s version, and the noise peculiar to vinyl records is removed, and the powerful dynamic sound unique to the American version of that time is restored with the latest remaster. The title track “Help!” is a Capitol-exclusive edited version with the James Bond theme added at the beginning, and “Ticket to Ride” is recorded in Capitol-exclusive duophonic (pseudo-stereo) based on the mono mix, rather than a stereo mix for some reason. The other songs are also analog-era stereo mixes with a different balance from the current remastered stereo. By the way, the mono sound source of this album has been converted from stereo to mono, so there is no stereo-mono mix difference seen in the British original, but it is a Capitol-exclusive mono sound source edited in the United States. All 24 tracks of the stereo/mono album, which faithfully reproduces the texture unique to analog, are recorded with analog master sound sources different from the current digital remaster. DVD = Video Album/Audio Album The video album contains all 12 tracks of “Help!” in the original edited video footage. This video is a promotional video based on footage from the film, re-edited in the original 4:3 format, not the current widescreen format with the top and bottom trimmed. The instrumental numbers that are split into scenes in the film are also recorded in the original footage re-edited to match the sound source, and the audio is also the latest AI-demixed “New Stereo Remix” sound source. This is a video album that visualizes “Help!” in the latest edited version in 2024. In addition, the audio album includes all 12 songs from “Help!” in three different sound sources. This is a slideshow format that includes the latest “New Stereo Remix” and the original 60’s “Stereo Mix” and “Mono Mix”. You can switch the audio by audio selection even during playback, so you can compare the differences in each mix. THE BEATLES / HELP!
