Description
The unreleased album “GET BACK” took the world by storm as bootlegs such as “KUM BACK” and “RENAISSANCE MINSTRELS VOLUME II” were reissued many times. However, there is an LP that contained the appearance of an unreleased album earlier than that. That is “O.P.D.” It is said to be one of the Beatles’ oldest bootlegs, and it is said that it was released before that “KUM BACK”. Because of its rarity, even the famous book “Beatles Pirate Dictionary” doesn’t even mention its existence, so if you say that it’s a vintage item, you’ll understand just how valuable it is. The title was taken from the initials of the patch he wore on the jacket of the album “Sgt. Pepper’s,” which contributed to rumors of Paul’s death, and was released in late 1969 when the legend was controversial. It reminds me of the release of. Moreover, the content of this LP is different from “KUM BACK” and “RENAISSANCE MINSTRELS”. While those were based on the early acetate before it was compiled into “GET BACK” by Glyn Johns, this one is based on the acetate that was compiled into the format of the same album. However, the story does not go smoothly. I can’t say that it is a compilation of the versions compiled into “GET BACK”. For example, “Get Back” has a longer post-performance exchange than the same album. The ultimate thing is that “Dig It” has been recorded significantly longer than that. Therefore, it seems to be an acetate one step before the completion of the first “GET BACK”, so to speak, it is a second version. To tell the truth, like “KUM BACK”, this has also produced many copies and sub-streams, and silver titles such as “SILVER ALBUM OF WORLD’S GREATEST” and “LIVE ON SILVER” belong to that school. Therefore, “O.P.D.” had a high historical value in that it released a format similar to “GET BACK”, but it had one major drawback. It was a monaural recording picked up from one stereo channel. As a result, you can hardly hear John’s singing voice on “One After 909”, and the song also featured skipping before the interlude (this phenomenon was also carried over to derivative items). Furthermore, in “Get Back”, John’s guitar solo has a strange balance that can be heard from a distance, and while titles such as “RENAISSANCE MINSTRELS” and early “KUM BACK” were recorded in stereo, this one is monaural and only one channel is recorded. Problems can be overwhelming and quickly overshadowed by those items. This “O.P.D.” also has a rough monaural sound quality, but since it is only an LP that was released early in 1969, it is quite fresh. Such a vintage and valuable LP was released by Remasters Workshop, which is familiar to enthusiasts, but while that included bonus tracks, this time it was carefully transferred from the original LP. The version has been made into a CD with pitch corrections etc. In terms of sound quality, this version is clearly clearer than the Remasters Workshop version.
