In 2024, the North American tour of BEAT, a unit that reproduces the 80’s Crimson, which became the biggest topic among progressive rock fans around the world, was recorded in Portland on November 22nd in a complete stereo IEM matrix. First, the stereo IEM source used by the members on stage was mixed with the digital audience source in an exquisite combination to create a hybrid sound that conveys the atmosphere of the venue to the fullest, and if you listen normally, the quality is comparable to that of a soundboard. And when the members were first announced, the four members, who were surprised, were the original members Adrian Belew and Tony Levin, as well as Steve Vai as another guitarist, and Danny Caray, the former TOOL drummer known for his technical skills, and they were a lineup of transcendent players who were no less than the original Crimson. The two-part show had a basic set structure that was almost the same as the beginning of the tour, with the 80’s trilogy of “Discipline,” “Beat,” and “Three of a Perfect Pair” being performed one after the other, and the progress and performance of the live show was just like the 80’s Crimson was revived in 2024. Seven songs from “Three of…” were also included in the set, especially “Model Man,” a rare number that Crimson has never performed live, and all of them, including the amazing “Red” at the end, are worth listening to. As a bonus, the sound check on the day was also recorded with an IEM source, making it a must-listen item for fans.
