Description
There are many collector’s items from BLUE OYSTER CULT (hereinafter referred to as B.O.C.), but this unparalleled masterpiece is back with a new look and quality! 12 years have passed since the shocking first appearance. Please experience “LIVE IN THE WEST 1975”, which has been praised by hardcore enthusiasts as “the first B.O.C. live you should listen to” and “the best live source”, with the best sound ever! 1975 was a special era in rock history. QUEEN created “Bohemian Rhapsody” and made history, and KISS went wild with “ALIVE! ” and spread out into the world. Then Ritchie Blackmore discovered Ronnie James Dio and began his rainbow journey. At the same time, B.O.C., also known as the “Cold Madness of New York,” was on the cusp of making a leap from being a leader of the underground scene to a representative of American rock. “B.O.C.’s history is divided by official live works”…Although it is an overused expression, it is still an indispensable saying when talking about B.O.C. live performances. The year 1975 was the first chapter. This is the announcement of “ON YOUR FEET OR ON YOUR KNEES”, their first official live album. This work mainly records the US tour in October 1974, and clearly depicts B.O.C. demonstrating even more ability on stage. Above all, it is important that it was a culmination of the first three works, from the debut work to “SECRET TREATIES”. This film captures the time when the band’s individuality was at its brightest and the fans were excited, before it gradually became popular with the birth of “AGENTS OF FORTUNE”, that is, “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper”. That’s why! The tour accompanying “SECRET TREATIES” lasted for a long time, and with the above-mentioned live release in between, the band energetically toured America and Europe until January 1976. Among them, the US tour that took place from February to October 1975 was officially recorded in various places (even though the live album had just been released), and it is clear how B.O.C. Let me know how you felt. Let’s look back on B.O.C.’s career at that time. January 16, 1972: Release of debut album “BLUE OYSTER CULT” February 11, 1973: Release of 2nd album “TYRANNY AND MUTATION” April 5, 1974: Release of 3rd album “SECRET TREATIES” April Performance in Passaic, New Jersey on the 27th… Part of the performance will be included in “ON YOUR FEET OR ON YOUR KNEES” – Recording of each performance of the North American tour from October 5th to the 21st – Performance of “ON YOUR FEET OR ON YOUR KNEES” The main sound source was a North American tour with JOURNY in early July 1975. ←★This work is here…Production of a new album started at the same time. 1976 – Recording of new album from February to April – Release of 4th album “AGENTS OF FORTUNE” on May 21st B.O.C. was released in January 1976 After the tour ends, we will create a cassette live album for those involved by picking up a few songs from the live recordings from the previous year’s tour. The live source used at that time consisted of the sound source of the West Coast tour in July as shown below. ・July 3rd, Redig, California performance ・July 4th, Portland, Oregon performance ・July 5th, Seattle, Washington performance (one theory is that it also includes the July 8th performance in Medford, Oregon) ) This work was unveiled in front of fans in 2007. “LIVE IN THE WEST 1975”, which used the master cassette live album owned by the people involved, surpassed “ON YOUR FEET OR ON YOUR KNEES” in every aspect. Avid B.O.C. fans from overseas praised the 95-minute full set, superb sound, and spectacular performance. In this way, the previous work was a definitive class live source at the time of excavation, but it is also true that because it was a material for those involved, it had a strong rawness peculiar to leaked material. Therefore, for this re-release, we have remastered the album to improve its level of perfection, aiming to bring it back to what the original sound source should be, with an overall well-balanced sound and a sound image that pursues more entertainment. An item worthy of the name “Definitive” was born to appeal the charm of early B.O.C. to a wide range of fans! “…Come from New York City! The Amazing Blue Oyster Cult!” The first thing you hear when you play the disc is the screaming introduction to the band. And the wonders of “Stairway To The Stars” and “O.D.’d On Life Itself”! Core enthusiasts will feel the difference in the sound at this point. Each part of the band gains clearer separation, and each ensemble emerges and intersects. The musical tones become sharper with each note, and the cymbals vibrate in the air, as if the vibrations can be felt. The three consecutive hits from “SECRET TREATIES”, followed by “Flaming Telepaths”, “Dominance And Submission”, and “Subhuman”, have a solid sound with a solid sound pressure that shakes the listener. Eric Bloom’s rustic singing and guitar play against Donald Luther’s melodious guitar, sometimes fighting and sometimes harmonizing. Furthermore, Alan Rainier’s ever-changing keyboard fills the space…this is the magic of B.O.C. sound! “Astronomy”, which is performed at the beginning of Disc 2, is the reaching point and true value of the first three works! The highlight of the live performance was the 13-minute long “Buck’s Boogie”! The fast-paced riff and development into a solo that emphasizes melody are very typical of Buck Dharma (Donald Loser’s nickname). In addition, Eric, Alan, and Joe Bouchard’s play, which combines fast passages and phrases in response to the heavy boogie rhythm, is also amazing. Albert Bouchard’s drum solo, which is included in the middle, is also effective, and it is a wonderful take that shows off B.O.C.’s ability as a live band. The dramatic closing of “Hot Rails To Hell” and “Maserati GT (I Ain’t Got You)” is also the best. This live is the culmination of early B.O.C.’s work, which was honed during the approximately 15 months of touring since the release of “SECRET TREATIES.” This is B.O.C. Live, the “king of New York’s underground scene”! B.O.C.’s collector’s items have expanded dramatically in variety and quality since 2010, but surprisingly, the only press CD titles are the previous work and this work’s “LIVE IN THE WEST 1975.” In other words, there is no B.O.C. live album that surpasses this title! “SECRET TREATIES” has made its name in the history of American subculture and continues to have an impact even today. This work reproduces the tour peak thoroughly and engraves it on CD. (Remastered memo) ★ Fixed a slightly faster pitch. ★Slightly raised the treble. (Fine adjustment to make the cymbals a little clearer) ★Increased the overall sound pressure. A more dynamic sound has been achieved compared to the original sound.
