Description

The title of Asia’s audience recording is “A masterpiece in 10 years”! In 1982, from the North American tour accompanying the release of the first album, on April 29th, early in the tour, Boston recorded the Orpheum Theater almost completely with a super high-quality audience recording. The live take of this performance appeared on the Highland label more than 10 years ago under the title “ALCHERINGA”, and it was a standard piece representing the early days of Asia’s tours, from maniacs to general fans, as “a long-awaited good record with good sound quality, rich content, and a complete recording of one performance”. This board contains the master sound source of that “ALCHERINGA”. The sound quality has improved to an incomparable extent, and it is easy to see that the previously released sound, which was believed to be high quality, was actually a considerably deteriorated sound that had undergone tape generation. The difference in sound quality is obvious, and anyone can tell at a glance. More than that, there has never been a live audience recording with such good sound quality on the first album tour, so there is no doubt that everyone will be intoxicated with the never-before-seen super sound! The swelling of the sound and the natural clarity are overwhelming, which is also a perfect match for the symphonic sound released by Asia, and fans will be deeply moved by the series of dramatic sound dramas that make every song feel like the best take. In any case, you can see the overwhelming difference in sound quality that makes you surprised again. The already released disc has a divide point after The Smile Has Left Your Eyes, and that part is recorded for nearly 10 seconds longer than the already released one. On the other hand, the master sound source that appeared this time had the drawback that the MC before Here Comes The Feeling on Disc 2 was slightly short due to the Phaedon processing, so that part was diverted from the previous release and finished into the longest version, although it was only a few seconds (the beginning, Time Again starts with a cut-off, as in the previous release). The performance was excellent, and there were some rough parts in a good sense, which felt like a symbol of the band’s momentum. Just the month after the release of the first album, Asia, which achieved commercial success that no one had imagined, reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts, was at the very peak of its upswing, and the mood was vacuum-packed. This is definitely a super master sound source that all Wetton & Asia fans must listen to. In addition, as a bonus track, about 33 minutes of the second half of the show was recorded from the Pitchburg performance on the third day of the US tour. Although the sound quality is inferior to that of the main Boston performance, you can listen to the precious The Man With The Golden Arm (a cover of a film score by Elmer Bernstein) that was only performed a few times during the encore and early tours. This is a must-listen for fans as it is the earliest live recording confirmed at this time. Of course, the pitch has been corrected. This is a gem that condenses the charm of Asia in April 1982.
