Description

ARW (Anderson Rabin Wakeman) is a highly anticipated project that vividly updated the treasured YES music. A new superb live album is now available. It took six years from the concept to start full-scale activities, and they are currently touring the US with the tour “AN EVENING OF YES MUSIC AND MORE”. We have released the first day “ORLANDO 2016” and the second day “CLEARWATER 2016” in our shop. However, the sound source has calmed down a bit since then. No, although it has not been reported, the first two were so superb that they did not reach the quality worthy of being introduced later. Meanwhile, a masterpiece comparable to those two masterpieces has appeared again. This is the audience album of this work “Wallingford performance on October 21, 2016”. First of all, let’s look at the distance from the previous two works by the tour dates.・October 4, 2016 Orlando performance “ORLANDO 2016” ・October 7, 2016 Clearwater performance “CLEARWATER 2016” ・October 9, 2016 Durham performance ・October 10, 2016 Atlanta performance ・October 12, 2016 Hollywood performance ・October 14, 2016 Bethlehem performance ・October 15, 2016 Glenside performance ・October 16, 2016 Glenside performance ・October 19, 2016 Boston performance ・October 21, 2016 Wallingford performance [This work] The above are the first 10 performances of “AN EVENING OF YES MUSIC AND MORE”. The Wallingford performance included in this work is exactly the 10th performance. This work, which has been a little apart from the two masterpieces, has a wonderful sound that is just as good as the previous two works. The musical tones are thick and full of directness, and the bass, which tends to be a weakness in audience recordings, is rich as if it shakes the walls of the venue. The mid-high tones that rise from there extend straight and vividly in detail, while the faint venue acoustics there beautifully color the “sound”. I have always said that “YES music suits the audience,” and this is a wonderful recording that combines that flavor with the fine edges of a line class. The show depicted with that quality is so wonderful that even the original YES is hazy. As I have said before, there are three main points. The first is the unfading active feeling of the three main characters. Anyway, Rick Wakeman and Trevor Rabin are wonderful. Among the past YES men, some have prominent musical characters, while others are overwhelmed with their rich talents, but these two have a strong character and a deep talent. While each showed off their fierce talents during their time in the band, the two men only worked together to a certain extent, and each poured their own style into the other’s songs without any reservations or reservations. Furthermore, the singing voice of John Anderson, who is like the incarnation of the character, imprints the unmistakable “YES mark” on the band. It is inevitable that the vividness and brilliance of the band will surpass the original YES, which is based on “reproduction”. The second is the two sidemen. Lee Pomeroy (bassist of IT BITES) from Rick’s network and Lou Molino III (drums of COCK ROBIN) from Rabin’s network are not only talented, but also have excellent chemistry. In particular, Molino’s drumming is reminiscent of Bill Bruford, but his dynamism and power are like Cozy Powell’s. He respects the original while maintaining a balance that does not rush into precise “reproduction”. Perhaps it’s because they don’t carry the golden sign of “YES” that they have the freedom to do so, but in any case, it is the source of a mood that is “familiar yet fresh”. Moreover, this work is the 10th performance, and the band’s engine is warming up. The ensemble is just getting used to it, and there is no fatigue from the tour yet. The US tour is scheduled to have a total of 36 performances, and in terms of “recording standards”, it is the most likely time for a great performance to be born, and it is the most delicious timing to record it. And the three are set lists. A luxurious set with the familiar “classic YES” and the “90125 YES” that has been forgotten for a while. In the former, the dynamism of the new rhythm section and the brilliant guitar of Rabin, who is 62 years old but has not lost his skill at all, update it, and in the latter, Rick adds majesty to the pop tune. The composition is basically the same as the second performance “CLEARWATER 2016”, but “Oh!” is what makes you go “Hold On”. At the beginning, an intro in which John recites a passage from “Solid Time of Change” is added, making it even more colorful. This one change is a trivial one, but the mood that shines through is wonderful. The set list is made up of old familiar songs, but ideas to change it are constantly being born, and the mood is one of wanting to try things freely! This is the essence of ARW, and the biggest reason why they are currently receiving such rave reviews. Following the two early reports, ARW is finally starting to show its true colors. This is a masterpiece live album that is also dazzling in its excellent form. It is a masterpiece that makes you look forward to what great performances this free mood will produce in the future.
