From the Tribute to Coltrane Live by John Coltrane’s direct descendant tenor man Archie Shepp, a live performance at Jazz à Vienne in Vienne, France on July 3, 2017 is recorded with the finest stereo soundboard sound source. A total of seven songs are performed, including “Syeeda’s Song Flute” and “Naima” from John Coltrane’s masterpiece “Giant Steps” released by Atlantic in 1960, as well as his own songs. Shabaka Hutchings, a talented saxophonist active in the London jazz scene, and Amir El Safer, a freelance trumpeter, participate in the performance.
