Description

Ana Popovic made her debut in Serbia in early 2000, and was called the Susan Tedeschi of Eastern Europe as a rising star of female blues guitarist. Her playing style is not so much blues as it is rockin’ blues in the direct line of Jimi Hendrix and Ray Vaughan. Her greatest features are her modern funky style and sharp slide work with a driving feeling. Her slide with wah and distortion is the most attractive feature even in heavy funk beats. Until around 2006, she was only known in Europe, but in 2007, she released an album from Delta Groove, a new living blues company near Hollywood, and the producer was the superstar John Porter, who has worked on more than 10 Grammy-winning albums in the past. After that, she became a big hit in the United States, and this is a complete digital audience recording of her live performance in Bonn, Germany on December 3rd from her 2011 Eastern European tour. Centering around his signature slide work, he showcases superb guitar and vocals throughout the album, and in addition to the originals, covers of “You Don’t Move Me” and “Long Way From Homel” are also must-listens.
