Description
With the death of Gregg Allman at the age of 69 in May 2017, four of the six original Allman Brothers members were absent, bringing another chapter in the history of Southern Rock to an end. In memory of Gregg, we present here two CDs of Duane’s great performances. This is a master quality, soundboard recording of the band’s appearance on the final day of the legendary “Atlanta Pop Festival” held in Byron, Georgia from July 3rd to 5th, 1970. While Jimi Hendrix’s performance, who also appeared, was a hot topic, Allman also gave a great performance, just like on the first day. Although it is a broadcast recording and not complete, the band’s performance reaches its boiling point in the middle of the song, “In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed,” and the final familiar song, “Mountain Jam,” features all the members playing hotly for over 35 minutes. Duane’s slide guitar is brilliant throughout the entire album, and the twin guitar exchanges with Dickey Betts are particularly excellent. This is a must-listen item for fans who want to enjoy a different development and play from the official release, capturing the “hot nights of Atlanta”. Disc 1: 01. Don’t Keep The Wonderlin’ 02.
