The “AERO-VEDERCI BABY! TOUR”, announced as a “farewell tour”, has finally begun. The latest and best live album and a luxurious 3-disc set of audience footage are now available. This work contains the “May 23, 2017 Moscow performance”. You may be thinking, “I just came to Japan for Steven’s solo tour the other day…” That’s certainly true. First, let’s organize Steven’s activities since his solo album “WE’RE ALL SOMEBODY FROM SOMEWHERE”. {Solo album released on July 15, 2016} ・July 20, 2016 – September 13, 2016: Solo Tour #1 “ROCK ‘N’ ROLL RUMBLE TOUR 2016” ・September 17, 2016 – October 27, 2016: North America + South America (AERO, 10 performances) ・November 1, 2016 – April 25, 2017: Solo Tour #2 – about 3 weeks later – “AERO-VEDERCI BABY! EUROPEAN TOUR 2017” ・May 17, 2017 – July 8, 2017: Europe (AERO, 18 performances) – about 2 months later – ・September 18 – October 3, 2017: South America (AERO, 6 performances) These are the dates announced so far. Steven is doing his solo and AEROSMITH in parallel, but even so, it’s amazing how dense it is. AEROSMITH’s “ROCK ‘N’ ROLL RUMBLE TOUR 2016” is sandwiched between “Solo Tour #1” and “Solo Tour #2”, but the gap is about four days, switching from solo to AERO to solo. Just moving between the performance locations would take a day, so when on earth would they be rehearsing? It’s so harsh. In addition, AEROSMITH’s North American tour was originally supposed to take place, but it was postponed because “I wanted to make a new work”. Steven is now 69 years old, but he is a tremendous workaholic. Now, in the midst of all this, the Moscow performance of this work is the third concert of “AERO-VEDERCI BABY! EUROPEAN TOUR 2017”. The audience album is on disc 1-2, and the audience shot is on disc 3, making it a three-disc set that allows you to experience the “European leg” that is currently underway. The first live album to appear is also a wonderful and exquisite product. It’s a really good sound from the beginning, but it gets better and better as the show progresses. Of course, the recording position doesn’t change, and there is no sign of changing the settings during recording. Probably the on-site PA got better, but the crisp details and direct feeling go up. The beginning is “the best audience”, and the middle part is “like a sound board”. Such a live album alone is amazing, but the video on Disc 3 is even more intense. It is classified as an “audience shot”, but it is not the quality that you would associate with that word. It is an angle toward the left side of the stage (near Brad Whitford), but there is no audience in the front row, so it is a fiercely close-up viewpoint. Only the stage… no, only the members occupy the screen, and if you zoom in, you can see the facial expression up close. To be honest, the closest member is Brad, but if you shake the camera a little, Steven walking down the runway is close by, and there is plenty of Joe reflected on the giant screen behind the stage. Whether it’s a close-up direct shot or a spectacular screen shot, it’s a transcendental image that is almost professional-level. And the sound is also full of directness. To be honest, the bass is too thick and the balance is not so good compared to the beautiful and beautiful Disc 1-2, but it’s perfect for the close-up scene where the audience doesn’t even have a presence. It’s a video work that can be immersed in the feeling of “AEROSMITH and me only”. The show depicted with that quality is the best AEROSMITH world. Stephen’s solo show the other day was also great, but AEROSMITH’s “original place” feeling is exquisite. The combination is so natural that you don’t even need eye contact anymore, and the ensemble is as natural as breathing. Speaking of Stephen’s smile teasing Joey Kramer at the break of “Livin’ on the Edge” … (This work can be seen in such detail with a close-up direct shot). There are thousands and tens of thousands of rock bands on this earth, but no band has been breathing with the original members for as long as AEROSMITH. They are no longer one person with all five limbs, but one musical body with five members. You can experience a rock show that has reached such a level. The tour was once announced as a “farewell”, but before it even started, Joe said, “I don’t really think it’s the last,” while Steven said, “This is the last. It will go on forever, though.” How much of it is a joke and how much is it serious? It’s a completely ridiculous story, but these “unchanging five” must be the longest and highest-class band that rock has ever reached…no, primates have never reached. Don’t be fooled by cheap “this is the last” sentimentality, keep going until you die…it’s a rock ‘n’ roll paradise that makes you think that way. This is a three-disc set packed with the finest quality. Please, this is the “now” of the greatest rock ‘n’ roll band in human history.
