Description
Seven years from the “STIFF UPPER LIP TOUR”, the longest blank in AC/DC history, to “BLACK ICE”. The best footage of the super rare show that was realized in between is here. Only one mini tour was held in these seven years. That was “CLUB DATES/ROLLING STONES TOUR 2003”. This work is a superb audience shot of “June 9, 2003: Berlin performance” from that special tour. First, let’s check the position of the show in the timeline. [2001] July 8: End of the world tour (143 performances) December 4: Release of “STIFF UPPER LIP LIVE” == 1 year and 3 months later == [2003] March 11: New York performance June 9-22: Germany (5 performances) ←★ Here ★ July 30: Toronto performance October 21: London performance == 5 years later == [2008] October 17: Release of “BLACK ICE” This is the flow from “STIFF UPPER LIP TOUR” to “BLACK ICE”. These are the only 8 performances that took place during the longest break in AC/DC history. Although the tour title includes the name of the Stones, the historic collaboration was realized only on the 4 performances of “June 13, 20, 22, and July 30”. The Berlin performance in this work is a club gig that is a warm-up for that. [Amazingly high-quality visual beauty] If the show is special, the quality is also special. It was shot from the second floor seats on the left side of the stage (Malcolm Young side), but there is no shadow from the front row at all. It is a special seat that looks directly at the stage. And the fierce and bold zoom that makes full use of that field of view is overwhelming. If you get as close as you can, you can see Angus’s sweat, the veins on Malcolm’s forehead, and Brian’s expression with his eyes closed. Moreover, it seems that a tripod is used, so even if you follow the highlights one by one, the stability is outstanding. What’s even more amazing is the sound. It is an ultra-clear sound suitable for a scene with zero obstructions, and the extremely thick riffs jump directly into the details with fine detail. Although the audience sound absorbed the enthusiasm in a realistic way, the air is crystal clear and even kicks away poor FM broadcasts. You can tell the distance because of the video, but with just the audio you can’t feel the distance at all. [Club gig with plenty of rare songs] The show, drawn with such super quality, is special and fierce. First of all, the venue is small! It’s amazing that AC/DC, a big act in the world, is standing on a small stage in a club. They are so close to each other that they can talk on the spot, let alone make eye contact. Angus, who usually runs around, doesn’t have enough space to run (but he still does strip: lol). The stage is so small that it feels like we’ve returned to the Bon Scott era. Of course, even though there is no space, the energy is the same as usual. It’s a dense show where the energy that explodes the stadium fills the small venue. And the set drawn with that energy is special. There are songs that have been revived for over a quarter century, and many songs that will not be played at the end of this mini tour. It’s a show where the eras truly intersect. The revived songs are “Rock And Roll Damnation” and “If You Want Blood”, both of which are live performances for the first time in 23-24 years since Bon was alive. Of course, Brian will be singing for the first time on this tour. And the last songs on this tour were “Stiff Upper Lip”, “Gone Shootin'”, “Hard As A Rock”, “Bad Boy Boogie” and “Rock And Roll Ain’t Noise Pollution”. Among them, “Gone Shootin'” was truly the last performance on this day. Furthermore, “What’s Next To The Moon” was the first and last in 2003. After all, it is a very rare song in AC/DC history, with only three records remaining. You can experience it 100% in the best live performance. If the tour is special, the venue and the set are also special. It is full of special things, but it is of the highest quality. In fact, the Munich performance two shows after this work has been made official in “BACKTRACKS”, but it is the longest show that also includes “Gone Shootin'” and “You Shock Me All Night Long” that cannot be seen there. And above all, because it is an audience record, you can directly inhale the air of a club gig where the heat is swirling. The beauty of the images and the club gigs that can only be seen in the 21st century, when equipment has developed. If you want to see AC/DC’s audience shots, this is the masterpiece. Malcolm passed away, and the “golden five” were forever cut off from a complete revival. This is a record that allows you to experience a special seat at a show that is 100% real and too special.
