Description
ABBA rose to become the darlings of the era in 1977 with the record-breaking hit single “Dancing Queen.” A live album where you can enjoy a full show from that heyday is now available. This work includes “Perth performance on March 11, 1977”. This is a vacuum-packed audience recording of one act of the Australian tour that is too special for them. After all, Australia is famous for the fact that ABBA’s popularity exploded early on outside of their home country of Sweden. Their 1973 single “Ring Ring” had already reached number 7 on the charts, and the album was a multi-platinum hit. It was even said that “Australia is the most enthusiastic enthusiast in the world.” However, it wasn’t until 1977 that ABBA actually performed in Australia. Moreover, it did not come true after that and became unique. This work is a live album that allows you to experience the scene of such an Australian performance. Anyway, let’s start with the show position. Let’s take a look at the overall picture of the world tour, which was held in the midst of a huge hit.・January 29th – February 1st: Northern Europe (4 performances) ・February 2nd – 8th: Central Europe (7 performances) ・February 10th – 14th: UK (5 performances) ・March 3rd – 12th: Australia (11 performances) ←★Here★《“THE ALBUM” released on December 12th》》This is ABBA in 1977. Contrary to the image of a worldwide hit, the number of performances was limited, but the biggest one was Australia. The final stop was Perth, and it was a popular show on March 10th (2 performances) + 11th (1 performance) + 12th (2 performances). This work was the middle concert of such five consecutive Perth performances. This work, which records such a show, is an exquisite audience recording with a vintage feel. The “Entertainment Center” where the event took place is an 8,000-person indoor arena that gives you a realistic feel of its scale. Although it is difficult to say that the hall sound that is a little distant is clear in detail, the master freshness is excellent and there is no sense of deterioration such as distortion or twisting. Although it doesn’t have the strong power of “FOLKETS PARK 1975”, which was released at the same time this week, it is a recording that allows you to immerse yourself in the harmony of the four members. And what is drawn with that sound is a show that pops out even precious unreleased songs. Organizing the set… ●WATERLOO (2 songs)・Waterloo, Sitting in the Palmtree ●ABBA (4 songs)・S.O.S., I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, Rock Me, So Long ●ARRIVAL (7 songs)・Tiger, That’s Me, Money, Money, Money, Dum Dum Diddle, When I Kissed The Teacher, Knowing Me, Knowing You, Dancing Queen ●ABBA: THE ALBUM (3 songs)・I Wonder (Departure ), I’m A Marionette, Thank You For The Music ●Others (3 songs): He Is Your Brother (RING RING), I Am An A (unreleased song), Get On The Carousel (unreleased song)… And it looks like this. Of the 19 songs that can be heard in this work, only 7 songs overlap with the two major official live works “ABBA LIVE” and “LIVE AT WEMBLEY ARENA”, as well as “FOLKETS PARK 1975”, “BUDOKAN 1980 3RD NIGHT” and ” There are 9 famous songs that you can’t listen to even if you collect bootlegs such as “Same 5TH NIGHT”. Two unreleased songs that particularly catch my attention are “I Am An A” and “Get On The Carousel.” Both of these songs are not just for fun, but are masterpieces with solid lyrics and arrangements, and were sung throughout 1977. Although it didn’t end up being an official recording, the idea was later reused. “I Am An A” is part of “I Know Him So Well” from the musical “CHESS” by Benny and Bjorn, and “Get On The Carousel” was written for “THE GIRL WITH THE GOLDEN HAIR”. The chorus became the melody line of “Hole in Your Soul” (incidentally, “Get On The Carousel” can also be seen in “ABBA: THE MOVIE”). The Australian performance brought together ABBA fans, said to be the “world’s best.” This is a historic live album that allows you to witness the scene.
