Description
A beautiful live album that mixes the British scenery of the past and present has arrived. This work is an audience album containing the latest tour of CAMEL, the most lyrical progressive rock band in British rock history. The person who recorded it is a famous taper living in the UK, who has recorded songs such as Paul McCartney, THE ROLLING STONES, QUEEN + Adam Lampard, Robert Plant, FLEETWOOD MAC, etc. He is a master who always delivers the best British performances. It is a taper. Taper is characterized by its smoothness of musical tone while valuing the vivid “space”, and this work also has a wonderful sound that rivals the masterpiece collections to date. Moreover, this time it’s lyrical CAMEL, so I’m especially happy with its smoothness and fantastic atmosphere. The venue was the “Alban Arena” in St. Albans, near London, which had a capacity of around 1,000 people. The atmosphere is so strong that you can feel the space transforming into a fantasy world. The show started with “Never Let Go” from their debut album. As soon as the members appeared, gentle applause poured down like autumn rain. Even before the performance begins, you can clearly see how clear and moody the sound of this work is. In 2013, the re-recording and live reproduction of the famous album “THE SNOW GOOSE” became a hot topic, but this work is a greatest hits show that gives an even bird’s-eye view of his career. However, CAMEL in 2015 does not just list famous songs, but adds a little twist. While calming the venue with humor as if it had suddenly reached a climax with “Never Let Go,” they performed the unexpected “Lost And Found” as the second song. This number is from 1999’s “RAJAZ”, but it is very rare and may be the first performance. Although he surprises with rare songs from his later years, he does not leave the audience behind, which is the skill of a veteran. The next twist that was introduced after “White Rider” was another big hit from the famous album “MOONMADNESS”. There is no intro “Aristillus” or “Chord Change”, and the order of the songs has been changed, so it is not a reproduction of the album, but 5 of the 7 songs are played one after another. There’s no way this wouldn’t be exciting. Of course, there is a sense of familiarity as they are popular songs from the masterpiece album, but when I hear “Spirit Of The Water” and “Another Night” which I haven’t heard in a long time (12 years?), I feel happy. After the special feature “MOONMADNESS”, CAMEL history will be played with famous songs that will be in the top 10 of CAMEL live performances. In between the late 70’s and early 80’s songs “Drafted”, “Ice”, and “Echoes”, the show descends into a mini feature on the revival of “DUST AND DREAMS”. “Whispers In The Rain” here is also a revival after 23 years since its release, and even in the climax’s signature song rush, “Long Goodbyes (31 years later!?)” is mixed in smoothly. Looking back on a long career full of ups and downs, he keeps the audience focused until the very end. It is truly a masterful show performance that only a great veteran can provide. It’s been 13 years since their last original album “A NOD AND A WINK” and 15 years since they last visited Japan. However, at 66 years old, Andrew Latimer is still putting on fantastic shows in his home country. This work is not only a live album where you can enjoy CAMEL’s masterpiece Rush, but it is also a record that will make you inexplicably happy. This is a work that is like a time capsule from those days when I longed for faraway England across the ocean. We hope you enjoy the joyous music news from Latimer.
